Island and south lake's in Ohio Co, just past Beaver Dam on Hwy 62. These are a couple of good lakes and quite large. You will have to check regs for running dogs first or contact the Co for this area. Also be careful on Peabody land and lakes as they have sold alot of it to privite clubs. Some of the best blugill and bass ponds are now closed and also some of the good hunting ground. Good luck

I agree with Bobby, Island and South are pretty good. Know a couple of "no name" ponds that have some monster gills but I think they are private now. Won't be no Peabody in a few years.

They used to give maps out when you bought the permit but I haven't asked for one in years. I have looked everywhere for one of my old ones but can't find it. With the recent selloff they are probably no good anyway. If I can find a map, I will be able to tell you but it's one of those "I know how to get there but can't tell you how to things". It's towards the back end of Wysox road on the left, but it may be private now, I just don't know.

Rick give me a PM And I can get in touch with you and get you there, You must have that 15$ permit and also South and Island lakes close to fishing oct15th, to protect the ducks and geese. But good rabbit hunting is there.

I think more people rabbit hunt there than fish. I'v been there in January and it's like a mall at Chrismas.

Lake Merlin has some monster gills. Went in early June w/ a few buddies from work and we tore 'em up in 90 degree+ weather. When you enter off of highway 70, the far left of the lake has a nice cleared out spot that would be good for pop-up camper and there is a put-in spot right there. However, the put-ins are located near gas well heads so make sure you are at least 100 feet away if you wanna start a fire. We fillet about 60 gills that first evening but used a propane grill to do the cooking. When you enter Merlin off of 70, there is a nice small lake/big pond to the right that has some good gills in there as well.
