    Depth Finder Problem

I Have a Garmin GPS/sonar it works great however when I get up on plane the depth will no longer read I feel the turbulence of the water against the boat is causing this I had it level with the bottom of the boat so I then moved it up a little higher but it still won't read...any suggestions?

dont drive so fast..... Actually i have a lowrance gps sonar and if i am on plane and i trim my motor up throwin a rooster tail.. sometimes my depth finder will just lock on one number but if i trim the motor down then it starts back working..... but i would just say that is your problem.... when u are on pad the unit is out of the water.....i got a thru the hull transducer..... and another thing u can do is speed up your ping that helps too......

You may need to get a high speed transducer if it does not have one.

Its not going to read past about 35 or so unless the transducer is in the hull.

My Lowrance will read at 55mph + It just takes time to tune in the transducer placement. No turbulance and full contact with the water is the key. 1/8" can make make a difference.

If you want to verify if your transducer works, and it's not permanently installed at the present location, place it inside the hull at the very back (lowest location) and put enough water inside your boat to cover it. Use common sense. I'm not saying to fill your boat. Then try it. If it works epoxi it in the location. Make sure there's NO bubbles.

Having the same problem with my new Humminbird. Trying to relocate the transducer to cure this.
