Mellanistic (all black) and xanthinc (yellow/gold) fish are rare but seem to happen more often in primitive fish such as bowfin and gar for some reason. A true once in a life time fish. Sadly most fisherman have no idea how much they are worth and kill or release them. Leucistic (snow white not albino pink) gar are very rare. I personally know a gentleman that paid over $10,000 for one of these fish!

I doubt I will ever be fortunate to find such a fish, but I still would like to know where to catch som bowfin. They are very fun to catch and I havnt caught any since Ive lived in KY. Im still looking for a place to catch them.
