    Fishing etiquette!?....

Just a few days ago me and a friend was night fishing for bass on a particular spot where I caught several fish before. I noticed a boat further down the bank on the opposite end of the cove where we were fishing. As we continued to fish that spot the guy in the other boat was coming closer fishing right towards us. We were casting to the bank working the drop and the guy keeps on coming! He starts casting right over our lines in the same spot. He continues to run his trolling motor and casting the entire time directly over our lines. If we had not reeled in im sure it would have got stuck in his trolling motor! LMAO! Honestly my adrenaline was pumping so high I could have done terrible things to the man. I did say a few things but let him pass without hurting him. What would you guys do in this situation? I really need some help on this one because if it happens again Im afraid he might get hurt!

I'm afraid a big 1 oz spinner bait would have been bounced off his head as he got to close to where I was fishing. Then when he yelled out I would have said " Oh I didn't see you coming up on our location, that we been setting on for xx number of minutes" You should have made some noise or something so that we would have heard you or knew you were coming up on us.... MY BAD.......lol

Next time just follow him around the lake and stop where he stops and fish right next to him and when he asks what the heck you're doing...looked shocked and say...Since you came up on me and fished my spot I thought you wanted to be close to me...I'm sorry did I misunderstand your intentions you freakin' jerk.

Or you could just let it go...but that wouldn't be any fun at all.

Well you could have went right on fishing your spot and let the sinkers fall where they may so to speak. It could be an experiment on the different but unique sounds that lead sinkers make when landing on carpet, seats, fiberglass or cowlings. If you are questioned on this practice, then apolagize, and tell him that he was so close you thought he was volunteering for your research program!!!

    Re: Fishing etiquette!?....

this has happened on several occasians at several different places. first, the falls ot the ohio. just a few weeks ago me and my wife went below mcalpine and she doesnt like to wade out in the river so we fished from the bank. the come three tattooed little punks maybe in there 20's and wade right out in front of us. so, there i am yelling at them and they are of course ignoring me like they dont hear me knowing he heard what i thought about all three of them. instead of conflicting the problem that time i just walked away feeling better about myself knowing i was not the jerk in that situation.
second i was fishing willisburg a few years agofrom the little jon boat i have and as i was trolling fishing the points of the coves on that lake i found a decent school of 12-15 inch L/M and was catching one on every other cast and along comes a young guy in a bass boat and trolls right in front of me and i said a few choice words to him and his re-buddle was "i thought you were fishing for panfish". so what if i were does that mean you can cut me off or is cause your boat is bigger. he had no reply so later that day i saw him fishing a bank and he was around 40-50 feet off this bank so to be a jerk i took off at full speed and went right in between him and the bank and as i glanced over at him he had a grin on his face and he knew i was p/o at him.
i was the smaller person that day and realize that now.
i can only say that you have to be the bigger person and just take it on the chin. in my younger days i would tell you that thheese type of people needed a good whoopin but its probably best to just correct them and go on with your day because the fact of it is people are rude and ignorant theese days and are incapable of finding there own spot to fish where there is actually fish to be caught. my blood pressure is up a little after thinking about theese sort of thins.

When I used to do a lot of fishing on the lakes, I used to keep a bag full of 50 caliber mini balls and a wrist rocket in the rod locker and when you bounce one or two of them off the cowling of his motor, he will move on down the bank...also found a Zara Spook in his carpet works well too...

Thank Goodness I dont fish that heavy any more....

All i can say is airsoft. Very quite and doesn't make a sound when you shoot. Feels alot like a wasp sting when it hits. Oh by the way they are very accurate and get the point across. LOL Funny to hear those guys holler about a dang wasp sting and never know where it came from.

One thing that works good also is to catch a keeper or big bass where they just left from, and make sure they see it. We did that a Green a couple years ago, some guys trolled around us and got in front of us, we just kept fishing, did not say a thing, but get the net as both of us caught a couple of nice fish behind them, they left soon. Or better yet lob a gob of sting bait into their boat.

Airsoft NOTHING...........A deck mounted browning .50 cal.....LOCKED and LOADED.

Nothing like a bassboat/gunboat combo to get the point across.

Stash a couple AT-4's in the rod locker "JUST IN CASE".......

You can probably acquire both off of ebay...........NO RESERVE .

    Later,

    Geo

Heck if he is being a knucklehead just cast like you were doing but make sure his trolling motor catches your line...sure your out a bait (cheap one I hope) and some line but he is in for a mess and possibly a new seal. I never done that but if I get pissed enough it would work for me.
