    Licking river report from N.Ky

I know most of you guys aren't thrilled by us "Live Bait" fishermen ,but I'll post anyway.Took the wife without the kids (peace and serenity) last night to one of my favorite spots on the main Licking where it's secluded.Forgot the lanterns so we only got to fish until we couldn't see anymore, but the old lady caught 2 smaller largemouths almost 12 " on shiners with a bobber, and a perch in the 1-1/2 to 2 pound range on a nightcrawler.I caught a decent 13" black crappie and a 2 pound channel cat, both on shiners. We started getting monster hits on chicken liver about the time we had to pack it in,I believe we would have caught some good cats had we been able to see,but even with the full moon it was too dark where we were.Still was an enjoyable evening.Forgot to mention I saw a pretty good size fish 3' + come topwater around some laydowns across the river from us,I believe it was a Musky, just not positive.I caught a 33" Musky on accident about 2 miles down river from this spot a couple years ago.

It's great to read a report from No. Ky, it seems that most reports are from a couple hours away. Thanks............

I live right on the Licking River Southern Campbell Co. and it is a good fishery. I have caught lm, sm, kys, redeye, perch, whitebass, sauger, crappie, bluegill, drum, channels, flatheads, blues, carp, gar, and a 30" musky within a half mile of our property. I saw a muskie about 10 years ago that was pushing 45-50" while I was fishing on our property. They are in there, but are few in numbers. My biggest smallmouth, 18", largemouth 17", crappie, 13", kentuckybass, 15", whitebass, 14", and sauger, 17". Haven't been able to fish it much this year, my boat motor needed some repair. Hope to have it fixed this week.
Thanks for the report. Sounds like fun. Where did you put in at?

That's why I love to fish it,never know what you will catch,We didn't have a boat out, just fished off a rock/sand bar,in a boat is pretty tough going in places(excluding a canoe),I was probably close to your neck of the woods on the Kenton county side just south of Morningview.

I am about 3 miles north of the Visalia Bridge off of Rifle Range Rd. I have an uncle that fishes from Sandy Island to Morningview all of the time in a boat. He said water temps are now down to 80 and the fish were biting last weekend.
