I think it's our responsibility now to stay and get them as stable as possible.

I see where you are coming from but trying to get any middle east country stable is impossiable. They have been at war for hundreds of years and it will continue. We have lost over 4,000 soliders in this senseless war and I don't care to see anymore American soliders die.

I guess I was thinking of the "Country First" slogan when I typed that and who exactaly is going to kill all these Iraqis you speak of if we were to leave today?

What would be wrong with having health care for every citizen ? We give it to illegals why not the rest of us who pay taxes? Can we really rely on our retirement ck, social security and medi care to be there when we get were we cannot work and pay Dr.bills? It could be a better system it could work. The biggest cause for families losing all savings and most debt is caused by health care bills. Not all componies provide health ins, and some that do it takes all the person makes to pay the premium. I see it every day. There are some state workers out there who have several children and I know that over half their ck and some more goes for health care premiums. And privite ins it is unreachable for most. We have spent and are spending every day in Iraq enough money to insure most if not all the country. Yes everyone blame the dems for the "chicken little syndrome" of bad economy, but also blame the republicans for starting this war that has brought down our economy. That is what the terrosits wanted, they struck the towers as the towers were a symbol of economic strength. No matter how long we stay in Iraq, we will never win, as we have already lost, they succeded in hurting our economy, if we would have just stayed after BIN LADEN instead of Saddam ,and got him then you can say that we won. But we had to kill someone and Saddam was easier to track and not as protected as BIn Laden is. Probally due to he is a Saudie and the Saudie's are our friend's. Work social services and see that we are not falling apart as a country, yes some areas are not hurting as bad, but some of the biggest employers in this part has either laid off, or let go hundreds of employee's. The reason the unemployment numbers are not reflecting new claims is that most have ran out of UE funds. THe gov has a way of hiding stats. Remember I work for the Gov. But glad to debte you Jim, we all just need to go fishing or go to Moe's and get in his hot tub and slam back a cold one or three. peace

    2. Didn't Bill Clinton leave us with a huge surplus that Bush completely ran through?

    3. We didn't need to be in Iraq in the first place and pulling out doesn't mean defeat, maybe you made a mistake by invading in the first place. I would take pulling out and it being called defeat......... even if it saved one soliders life and saying that if we pulled out then all the people that lost their lives fighting this war would be "wasted" is beyond belief to me. Listen to most of the people that have lost loved ones in the war and they will tell you about "wasted" lives. Oh yeah the Iraqis want us out also.

    4. I assume that since your posting here at fishin.com you would value the enviroment being a outdoorsman. Do you support drilling in the Artic Wildlife Refuge, the National Parks or for the matter what if the found a large oil supply right in the middle or Barren River Lake? Drill, Drill........

    5. Please not a President that wants to sit down and talk with some leader face to face. Ronald Reagan would be ashamed.

    6. I don't see either canidate doing much to the healthcar system.

All Bush references have to do with how I view Mcain not being much of a change.
    1. What kind of stimulus check do you think you'll be getting with BO at the helm? Nothing, that's what. In fact the first thing he'll do is repeal the Bush tax cuts. Since you're so unimpressed, I guess you sent your check back then?

    2. He also left us with the 9/11, since he chose to do absolutely nothing about Osama bin Laden and company. How much do you think that's cost us? I do admire the man's taste in cigars though.

    3. 99% of everyone felt we should've been there in the first place. Are you telling me you and BO were the lone dissenters when the Iraq war started? The war seems pretty close to being over. Call it anything you want, but pulling out now is admitting defeat and showing we lack the guts to finish what we started. Yep, that'll go a long way toward restoring our standing in the middle east, they'll be very impressed with our humanitarianism.

    4. I value the environment greatly and spend as much time as I can outdoors. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is 19.2 million square miles of territory, 8 million square miles of which is designated wilderness. There is plenty of room for drilling without wiping the Pygmy Shrew from the face of the earth.

If they put an oil rig in the middle of Barren River Reservoir I'd fish the dam thing. Prolly be as good as some of my other spots.

    5. Leader? What good does it do to talk to someone who only understands the language of oppression and violence? The guy doesn't believe there was a mass execution of Jews during WWII. His country supports beating and oppressing women. He openly calls us the great satan, sponsors terrorists, and vows to destroy the entire country of Israel. You honestly think that freak respects talk? Ask Jimmy Carter how well talking to the likes of ole Mahmoud works. While you're at it dig Anwar Sadat out of the grave and ask him what he thinks about chatting with him.

    6. Hello? You been paying attention at all? One of the main planks in BO's platform is national healthcare. Are you saying your guy isn't going to do what he promises?

View McCain any way you want, but he's 10 times the man Barack Obama is or ever will be, and he'll make a far better president.

QUOTE DEVILHORSE At least it would be structure and to answer a fishing post that would be considered vertical structure. Be an awesome place to fish, all the one's in the Gulf attract fish. Platforms actully help as they provide cover for fish. So not all is bad about oil platforms.

    1. The point was you said the economy was in good shape. I pointed out to you that you got a stimulus check for a reason, not because Bush is a nice guy and no I didn't send it back because I needed it because the economy is in bad shape. See. Also I'm glad you can predict the future

    2. Blame 9/11 on Bill Clinton, WOW. What he did do was leave Bush and his admin with a wealth of info about what Osama bin Laden was doing but I don't blame 9/11 on anyone but the terroist who carried it out. How much has the Iraq war cost us again?

    3. That's how scare tatics work. I guess I can seperate defeat from admiting a mistake but lets show some guts and stick it out. What kind of standing do you think we have in the middle east now? I'm sure it was much better before we invaded Iraq.

    4. Whats wrong with leaving it the way it is no matter the size? Drill once shrink it, drill twice shrink it........ you know how this stuff works. Sure you would support a oil rig at Barren.

    5. Okay no talk ,lets just attack and your the one worried about our standing in the middle east? What about the rest of the world? We had pratically no support in invading Iraq.

    6. Yep paying full attention, I just don't believe neither can do everything they say they can but I'm glad you do.

I'm done arguing because we both have vastly different views and this is going no where.

    Anyway good luck this Fall

Pontooner, we can agree to disagree. Thanks, and best of luck on the water to you as well.

Bobby, nothing is wrong with healthcare for all citizens. I know there are people who need insurance, and agree that an uninsured medical issue can destroy a family's finances. Problem I have is I don't trust the federal government to efficiently implement or run such a program, and I don't believe insurance should be permanently provided to anyone by the government. The last thing we need is another huge impossibly complicated federal agency. Why can't tax credits be given to those who lose their jobs and need cobra coverage? Or relief in some other form? There's got to be another way besides creating more federal government. I respect and appreciate your work in our state, and I'll take you up on that fishing trip. We'll definitely slam a cool one or 2 in the name of our country, and we'll make Mo pay the gas bill.

Sounds good. Me working for the Gov I should know better that they cant run things well. We have the most messed up dept in the state, too many rules, too many, authors of rules, too many chiefs not enough indians, we waste too much, there are absurd quidelines, stupip policy that conradicts itself, too many channells and the list goes on, yes gov run health care could be a fiasco, as there is a lack of common sense and logic in gov, esp this state. Also I do not like what I am doing for the state as it seems redundent. I wish we could impose limits on how long one can receive free food and free health care. We have people who have lived off our taxes for years and years, and that is wrong. And after listening more of Palin she is a strong lady and tough, she is going to be hard to beat.

I cant say that right at this time, although I did pull for McCain when he ran against GW. I do like Palin. I respect McCain a lot due to his service for this country and give him respect for his time served as a pow, I just want to get this war over as it was wrong, and I belive McCain knows that, also I do not like Biden never have, wish Obama had of picked Hillary or Richardson, I do not trust Biden for some reason. Might just have to vote for ole Ross Perot.lol lol

This was the only way McCain could get elected. Her speech was played just right, and after it was over here comes her family, all of them, and the camera shots were great, it was like they were using the downs baby as a focus point, to get the " oh so sweet vote". This election is now not about issues anymore, it is a show. PERIOD.THis whole thing has made me not even want to vote, maybe that's what they want, us to give up. She will help McCain get elected not due to her "experiance" but she will get the symphany vote from a lot of women and men. That is the real reason NcCain chose her, not for her qualifications but her personality, and her "mom" stature. This is wrong, the country is falling apart and the main issue now is the vp choice's preg daughter and if she can raise a family while in office. She can do that but can she get us out of war and fix the economy? Guys you all need to look thru the hype as it seems that some have already been taking in by this "HYPE". This is our country at stake here, not a social , not a hockey game, not about a teen preg, not about how nice one looks and she hunts/fishes. It is about who can best lead OUR country the best and fix things and protect us. This is not a show but real life, and it has turned into a "SHOW" very quickley.
Naw Bobby this one I can't agree on. When you talk hype look at Barry, when you talk results and real experience talk Sarah Palin. She had to show her family because the Libs have been attacking her family. It's been all over the news.
The Dems made this a circus show with Barry along time ago so to judge the Reps as you have to a different standard is wrong in my opinion. hagd
