Oil cooled hubs

Have an 03 Triton with oil hubs.........cannot find a transparent window
to check levels. Mine are black outside....what am I missing ? Help

i had a 06 ranger with the cool run hubs and i had problems with them leaking and sometimes they wouldnt leak but there would be water in the oil but all i did was kept taking it back to pittsburg and they kept replacing it.... i only had to do it twice once on each side... but i dont know what would cause it i think i got mine on chug holes at 70 or so... but i dunno....

I have a 2000 ranger,i had one hub leak on my trailor, i took it apart and replaced a sleeve over the axle that the seal rides on it fixed my prob.

2000 Ranger Trail Trailer with COOL hubs - have worked flawlessly, towed to New York and back last year at high speeds and long hours with no problems.

I did blow out a seal this spring when my brakes didn't release all the way due to corrosion in my brake lines - that baby got hot! I flushed my brake fluid and popped a new seal in that hub and was ready to go again!

Have you got the right oil in? Has your hub housing been hit or warped?

The black is the oil.

Not on mine.....perimeter of hub looks stainless and the
center insert is black (painted?). There is no transparent window. Is this the only Triton Trailer that has this type?

maybe you dont have the new oil hubs and you have the old grease fittings. If you do you better grease them if you didnt know what kind you had. Don't know if this is the case but I would be finding out.

Most boat manufactuers now have black site glass in their hubs, the reason being everybody thought they leaked when the oil turned milky looking however 99% of the time it's condensation that has caused the milky look, one small bubble of air is enough to produce condensation in the hub...bottom line if their milky run them there fine.

Yep, as long as it is not being slung out the front or back you are good to go. Just stay with the recommended maintenance schedule and everything will be fine.
