Heading to Texas to fish for a collegiate national championship.....

well this is an annual tournament on lake lewisville texas and its televised on fox sports. I have never fished this tournament yet and shew i just dont know. I know its still fishing but if you look at all the unknown factors into going it can get overwhelming... well i only got 2 bags of that color brush hog and what if the fish are hitting it well and u cant get them there or what if we run out of the right color jig and lord knows u cant get D and L jigs in texas. We at EKU are taking 3 boats. Me and my co angler chris davis, then tyler moberly and james wathen, and then andrew luxon and richard cobb...... My main concern right now is this darn hurricane IKE that has his cross hairs right on the texas coast. i just wonder what it will do to the prefishing because its not how hard the wind is blowing its what the wind is blowing..... I am just so excited i feel like i used to on christmas eve..... but i know it will all work its self out..... there are several teams from kentucky going and i think its going to be a blast there is acutally 108 boats from atleast 50 other colleges going to be there... we aint leaving till saturday and the tournament is next thursday friday and saturday.....
I know i am just rambling but what we are getting ready to do is basically the bassmasters classic on the collegiate level.... camera boats, camera guys in your boats, helicopters with cameras, and to top it all off there is a hurricane blowing in...... this is probably the most excited i have ever been over anythign because if u win something like this its no telling how far we could go..... The sky is the limit.... But i will keep yall updated on our day to day progress.....

    Hey Ryan,
Good luck with the tournament this year. I fished last year with my school but due to my course schedule I was unable to get away this year. You will have a great time. One of the highlights of my life. Any way, I placed decent last year, so if you have any questions about the lake, shoot me a pm. I don't know if some of the patterns I got onto last year will be good, but I will be willing to help out if I can. Don't be afraid to fish really slow.

Good luck and stay safe. The first flying cow you see you may want to head towards the dock.

Don't worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon...You're goin down there with some good company and that type of format experience with Richard and Drew. Work as a team and support each other. Bring it home to Ky....

    Good luck.
