Well it sounds like a big agreement from all that it is price gouging, what else can it be. Good thing the new Ky attn General pretty boy is looking into it, lol.

It is all due to supply and demand, they have the supply and can demand the price, also today OPEC lowered production, to keep oil at over 100 barrel. One staion here has gas at 3.54 right across the road the other is 3.59 and one across from it is 3.61. PRICE GOUGING, GREED, OPEC, STORMS, WAR, GREED, all are factors. We are all gas junkies and they are the dealers so they can charge whatever they want.
This is why we need to go after ALL alternative fuel sources now! Of course Nancy Pelosi is stopping or stalling a decision for offshore drilling at the present time. She demands more government funded plans in exchange for the approval of drilling, she is another radical leftwing nutjob that is holding you and I ransom until she gets her agenda across. My understanding is that the drilling ban expires at the end of this month so they have to do something. Who's they you ask?? The Dems!!It is all due to supply and demand, they have the supply and can demand the price, also today OPEC lowered production, to keep oil at over 100 barrel. Gas is the cheapest has been in a long time at $103.00 but we are not seeing the price at the pump lower. How come?
That question only gets answered with...because it's the way it works. It's a scam no doubt!
Why did they jack up the price? Because they can.
Drill, drill, drill. It's not going to make us independent of foreign oil, nor do much to lower the price. Only development of some other fuel source is going to do that. The fact that that hasn't happened yet is IMO a bipartisan failing, and I don't see where either candidate has any great plan in this regard. The best one I've seen so far comes from T. Boone Pickens. I'd like to see one of the candidates endorse it.
They went up again today, .15 cents a gallon here, from 3.54 to 3.69 and the BP was 3.99. They blame this on IKE. I guess that since we import most of our oil it just seems right to have all major refineries on the VUNERBLE COAST so they can be in harms way from either major storms or enemy attack. With the way these storms are getting is off shore drilling a good idea?
I think Offshore drilling would help the immediate issue. However, this is not an alternative fuel source. It would be the same fuel source from an alternate location. It will still be limitted in supply and may help cushion the immediate crunch we are all feeling. However, I don't see the price of petroleum based fuel dropping in our lifetime, regardless of where it comes from, because it is ultimately a limmited supply. Our consumption of oil on a global level is growing exponentially on a yearly basis. We can't support our energy needs for too long with the oil we have available, and we can't support it for too long in the future with the oil that could become available. This is why we need to go after ALL alternative fuel sources now! But, I am not arguing with you DJ - I think we should drill and drill now, but when doing so, the research into other fuel sources should become top priority.
I agree Col. Great point. We can use this time to help ween us off oil, we will have DT's but like you stated. drill now and also look for alternitves.
Doesn't matter where you locate a refinery, there are many types of natural disasters besides hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, fires,to name a few.Being located on the gulf coast where most offshore oil drilling goes on makes it cheaper to transport for refining, the problem is we need to open up more of our own country to exploration/production to lower the prices on imports. While I agree it's a good idea to use everybody else's supply up first,it doesn't help a thing to cause our cost of living to sky rocket while wages are being lowered at a pace faster than I can remember. My personal opinion is that it's all about control, those that have and those that don't,if enough people rased enough hell,at the threat of removing EVERY current politician from office then you can bet things would change. There was a time that fellow countrymen would have taken these pocket lining trators out of office and hung them for treason on the nearest tree, wouldn't hurt if that happened again.Explain how we give tax breaks to corporations that export our jobs offshore? You can thank Bill Clinton for that. They went up again today, .15 cents a gallon here, from 3.54 to 3.69 and the BP was 3.99. They blame this on IKE. I agree all the available mental power needs to go into our energy R&D. Drill now and plan for tomorrow with alternative fuel sources.I think Offshore drilling would help the immediate issue.
