I agree all the available mental power needs to go into our energy R&D. Drill now and plan for tomorrow with alternative fuel sources.I think Offshore drilling would help the immediate issue. However, this is not an alternative fuel source. It would be the same fuel source from an alternate location. It will still be limitted in supply and may help cushion the immediate crunch we are all feeling. However, I don't see the price of petroleum based fuel dropping in our lifetime, regardless of where it comes from, because it is ultimately a limmited supply. Our consumption of oil on a global level is growing exponentially on a yearly basis. We can't support our energy needs for too long with the oil we have available, and we can't support it for too long in the future with the oil that could become available.
But, I am not arguing with you DJ - I think we should drill and drill now, but when doing so, the research into other fuel sources should become top priority.
