    Re: Gas prices.....Why?

What I don't get is the wide varation in prices from one city to another and I would assume it's the same gas supplier for each city.

Here's a quick recap of a story I heard from a reliable source about raising gas prices.

A guy that works at a well established place that sells gas received a call to raise their prices and see if everyone would follow them. And of course after they raised their prices everyone else raised theirs also.

Also Exxon Mobile posted the largest one year profit for a company in history.

Sounds like price gouging to me

It is all due to supply and demand, they have the supply and can demand the price, also today OPEC lowered production, to keep oil at over 100 barrel. One staion here has gas at 3.54 right across the road the other is 3.59 and one across from it is 3.61. PRICE GOUGING, GREED, OPEC, STORMS, WAR, GREED, all are factors. We are all gas junkies and they are the dealers so they can charge whatever they want.

This is why we need to go after ALL alternative fuel sources now! Of course Nancy Pelosi is stopping or stalling a decision for offshore drilling at the present time. She demands more government funded plans in exchange for the approval of drilling, she is another radical leftwing nutjob that is holding you and I ransom until she gets her agenda across. My understanding is that the drilling ban expires at the end of this month so they have to do something. Who's they you ask?? The Dems!!

    Re: Gas prices.....Why?

Why did they jack up the price? Because they can.

Drill, drill, drill. It's not going to make us independent of foreign oil, nor do much to lower the price. Only development of some other fuel source is going to do that. The fact that that hasn't happened yet is IMO a bipartisan failing, and I don't see where either candidate has any great plan in this regard. The best one I've seen so far comes from T. Boone Pickens. I'd like to see one of the candidates endorse it.
