Help with Musky rod

I am trying to pick a seven foot rod or six six rod for musky, and stripers that will throw up to 3 oz . Any suggestions, or advise, I was also looking at a ugly stick catfish trigger rod that will throw up to 3 oz. Does anyone think I could acheive this out of that rod. I already made up my mind on the reel I am going with an abu C4 baitcast.

check out the Shimano Compre Musky Rods, good price and very tough, they even make some that can handle up to 13Oz. for those magnum bull dawgs.

I agree. The Shimano musky rods are exceptional for the price. You won't be disappointed. The 7ft heavy makes throwing bull dawgs all day a little more tolerable .

The Shimano's are good rods but if you are trying to get the best rod for both scenerios look at the St Croix 8ft Premiers. If you are fishing out of a low profile boat and want to throw heavy jerkbaits a 7 or 7ft 6 will work well.

I would definitly go with a 7' or longer. I have several of the Compre's and one Pete Mania. For lower end rods, both are very good choices.

You'll love that C4. I have one on a BPS 7' heavy action and plan to up that to a 7' compre or st croix soon. haven't had any trouble out of the BPS so far though and for the money ($30) if I snap it off in the truck bed then I haven't lost much. (Im rough on rods)

Shimano also makes a Sojourn muskie rod you can get for about $45 and i think the convergence starts at around $60 if you dont want to spring for the $100 plus compre or more than that for a good st croix

Have had great luck w/St Croix Premiers. The PM76MHF is one of my "must haves." The PM70MHF has same specs in slightly shorter rod.

thinkin on compre or bass pro, When I fish at meldahl out of the boat I was looking at rods that can handle up to 3oz for hybrid or striper, And if I fish the kentucky River or Cave Run I would have something to musky fish with also, thanks for the reply, only good way to know is to ask.
