I'm very well qualified to comment on the working poor. My folks worked hard in an Alabama cotton mill, and we lived pretty much hand to mouth. They never asked for help from the government or expected it. And they sure as heck taught me taking other people's money was wrong. My first job was running drawing frames in that mill 4 hours after school everyday for $1.90 an hour. I've manged to stay alive and have knock on wood, never taken a cent from the government or felt rich people owed me a dime.

We already have a welfare system that provides financial aid and job training, but is temporary as it should be. Before it was reformed we had people who were second and third generation welfare recipients. The problem with government financial programs is they discourage the incentive to work. You get a job, and you lose your money.

We also already have a slew of programs to aid families with children.

You don't pay attention so hot, I've already given you my economic plan. Cut government spending to the bone, cut taxes to the bone, drastically cut back on government bureaucracy and nonsensical regulations, and let American workers and innovators take over. Simple. And as I've said before, proven to work.

Since I've been so accommodating, take few minutes and outline your wealth redistribution program for us.
I'm thinking this is proably my last political posting here. It has turned into multiple threads and is getting to time consuming and confusing to try and sort through it all and keep up with who is saying what. Basically it's 10 on 2 with the debating for the most part (which I expected) and I hope you can see that it would be hard to try and sort it all out. There's a lot of big egos, opinions, beliefs............... and some not so nice things being said and implied and yes I was right there also so if you want to take shots at me for retiring from the political postings then, fire away.

Oh yeah don't think I just signed up here recently and was trying to start stuff because I've been a member for several years (my profile says I've been a member since 1969 *chuckle*) and have read many post every day and will continue.

Okay Devils Horse to address what you said then let's put this baby to bed.

Maybe it's just the Ivy league educated polticans that you have a problem but your post give off a vibe that says other wise to me.

Glad to here that you surived what many Americans are going through and made it without any help from the goverment but things don't always work out that way.

And I'm going to throw this back at you because you threw it at me once, did you return your stimulus check? I ask because you claim not to haven taken a dime from the goverment.

Yes we have a welfare system and programs to help children but they are brokem like a lot of things in this country. I don't claim to have all the answers on how to fix things like some people but know when something is broken.

Apparently your comprehension skills are lacking because I said "until you or McCain come up with a better plan" which is nice way of saying I don't like your or McCain's plan plain and simple. Goto Obama's website and read his plan for what I think is a step in the right direction.

One last thing then I'm out

You have accused me of dodging a question when I didn't but you have avoided the question I asked about "Bush being the good ol' boy, I can relalte to him and how that's panned out" twice already, so here's you chance to redeem yourself.

Peace, I'm out and may the best man *cough cough Obama* win this November.

    Fight on Col Forbin!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Pontooner,
I hate to see ya go! Seems like most of the Libs have left us? What gives? It's just for fun and I apologize for making fun of the "Barry". I just don't like him or anybody that does...JK of course.

Re: Palin on the Charlie Gibson interview

Pontooner you're just tired right now, that difference thread Steemer posted was a bruiser. That had to hurt. You'll be back for more, this stuff is habit forming, and you seem like a glutton for punishment. Besides Col needs help.(Er..uh..no pun intended.)

The so called stimulus check was tax money President Bush was kind enough to return to its rightful owner. (Don't fret though Pon, they kept considerably more than they gave back.) Them folks out there in Obamaland don't talk about it much, but it's called a tax cut. That you can't tell your money from the government's may explain why you're voting socialist this November.

No, I did not send MY money back to the federal government! My wife took it. Well most of it. Sure hope Gander Mountain, Ranger Bob's Bait & Tackle, and Miller Brewing Company are part of the economy.

Interesting that both you and Col are confused about the tax rebate checks, must be something in that kool aid y'all been drinking.

About President Bush. I respect and support support him. I believe history will absolve him of most of the blame the libs hang on him while giving their Dem controlled congress a free pass. The man has stuck by what he believed in under incredible pressure, and you don't see that very often with politicians these days. Is he a good ole boy? Don't know, but I'm pretty sure Slick Willie'd be a lot more fun to hang out with. As to his Ivy League mentality, I think Texas dampened it some, but I doubt I'll be bumping into him at Wal Mart.

You gotta do something about that cough brother. Take extra strength McPalinol, drink plenty of reality, and call me in November.

Now the serious biness. You've been a worthy opponent for us right wing wackos this week, and I sincerely hope you haven't taken this stuff too personally. I respect a man who'll stand up and hook and jab for what he believes. In real life we'd like each other I bet.

Anyway, best of luck on the water Pontooner, don't stick em all.

Good luck to you too Don, hope you get a wall hanger with a mouth bigger'n Joe Biden's.
