My liberal thoughts on gun control, the police ought to issue them to decent inner city people to defend them selves against street thugs, it seems they cant seem to do the job. The mexican mafia can easily out gun most police forces. If the police know who these gang bangers are, and are powerless because of the law, let an armed populace do the job. Someone said it should be legal for the public to be evenly matched with the military, far fetched, But when the government went into new orleans, they disarmed the law abiders, and wondered why there was so much shooting and looting.Geee the thought of owning my own 3.5 rocket launcher sends goose bumps down my spine. Oh by the way, I'm sort of dillusional latelt, must be the pain meds.

Re: Barry's View on Gun Control?

Correct me if I'm wrong but there are some cities that have such strict gun control that most if not all law abiding citizens don't have guns. That leaves the punks and thugs with them. What do you think keeps these guys on the streets? The written law and lawyers have the legal system so screwed up that it's hard to keep these guys locked up but thats another topic in itself.

I say gun control doesn't work and is an attempt from left wing socialists to control us. I know it sounds like I'm standing on a stump shouting to a crowd but it's the truth in my eyes.

This is another reason why I don't like Barry and his cronies. It's all about control with them and it's control we don't need. We need to control them, they are the ones who have put our economy in this state not you and I. Just look at these guys telling us what to do and they can't do the right thing themselves.....what has gone wrong? In one word GREED! Power and Money.

Re: Barry's View on Gun Control?

Tell It Don, you are all over it brother. In states and cities where the so called make my day laws are in place and the regular hard working Joe's carry guns there is very little crime. Look at the stats they speak for themselves. The reasons for this are simple, criminals get shot by good people. I know alot of you don't like Ted Nugent so let's don't go into that again, however google his views on gun laws and controls and tell me it's not just perfect. People,,, criminals already have guns and plan on hurting folks with them and that's not gonna stop unless law enforcement or a law abiding citizen makes them go HORIZONTAL FOREVER.

Col, here is the defination of an assault weapon........ A person who assaults another with malice intent. Guns don't assault people only people do. I can lay a loaded Ak-47 fully auto on a table and it will lay there forever and never jump up and hurt anybody... ever. My 30-06 hunting rifle with the right barrel, clip and ammo will mow down concrete block walls and then shoot people. Does that make it an assault rifle.... No, only does if I pick it up and try to hurt somebody with it and not until.

You guys do know that full auto weapons ARE LEGAL TO ANYONE WHO CAN LEGALLY PURCHASE A HANDGUN dont you?! Hmm, I hate hearing about all those mass shootings and murders with automatic weapons.

I'm just pointing out that even though you can legally own a full automatic weapon, even a mini-gun, crimes commited with these weapons are virtually un heard of.

Col, ammunition use for hunting is exponentionally more devastating to humans than so called "armor piercing" rounds. Also, any rifle other then .22 will go through any vest an officer may wear like a hot knife through butter. "Armor piercing" or "cop killer" rounds are nothing more then a buzz word made up by the gun grabbers to strike an emotional chord with the uneducated on the issue.

In fact, an officers vest is designed to stop what he is most llikely going to get shot by....his OWN WEAPON!

Of course we are not talking about .50BMG rounds that are litterally designed to pierce light armored vehicles, however, there have been no crimes commited with such weapons.

Re: Barry's View on Gun Control?

JD thanks for giving Col the ballistic lesson. you beat me to it. Col I would much rather be shot by a full jacket than a soft tip or hollow point as they are evil believe me. Col, up until several years ago snipers, especially Marine snipers the best in the world bar none used regular hunting rifles to eliminate their objective. Carlos Hathcock, probably the greatest Marine sniper of all time with 93 CK'S in Vietnam and some in the Corp believe over 300 used a Winchester Model (70) 30-06. He did occassionally use a Browning 50 cal but it was rare and only when he needed extreme distance. Now Col,,,, Carlos Hathcock was an assault weapon in every since of the word and he had the entire North Vietnamese Army so scared of him they offered one of the largest bounties of the war for his head. They never touched the White Feather as they called him as he had one in his hat just to taunght them. My point is he used a hunting rifle, and he was an enemies worst nightmare. Rather it be true or just legend the ole shot another sniper through the scope deal was Carlos Hathcock, even though he denied it till his death with a rye smile and light chuckle.

Re: Barry's View on Gun Control?

Been on a severity one problem since 2:15 this am. Still on it. This making a living stuff is way over rated.

Hey Don, I have done work on the safeties of their guns, it's not my fault if they sometimes malfunction.

Mark, paintball in the woods is an absolute blast, even for an old dude like me. Somewhere inside you realize the worst that can happen is a nasty welt or 10 (We all have our markers cranked up, last time we checked most of us could put a hole in a cardboard box) but it seems pretty real when the rounds are flying. Hunting stuff that shoots back adds another dimension.

Many will hunker down, those are the ones I like best. Nothing like chasing a camper to ground and gunning him down like a rabid skunk. That said, I get my share of welts too. If you want to play, let me know, humidity's down and 'spray and pray' season is almost here.

Hey Bobby, which side are gonna play for in the match? You have to pick or we'll all shoot at you.

Re: Barry's View on Gun Control?

You all do a good job of twisting words to fit your views. The only point I have made - is some weapons are designed for the sole purpose of killing people. You all have made a very good point in that it takes a person to pull the trigger - but I don't understand why anyone would want to have an weapon designed for that specific reason. Hunt all you want - maybe even have something for protection if you feel you need that. But, Jd made a good point about cops getting shot with their own weapons - this holds true for a large majority of gun related deaths - many are shot by their own guns.

Many people that own guns (including myself) are educated and store them unloaded under lock and key in a safe, however, many do not take such precautions. So am I for gun control - no. Am I for more regulations regarding who can purchase and own a gun, and education on the weapons they have as well as regulations on particular types of weapons - yes.

This is the last I will write on this issue, justify your thoughts any way you see fit, or continue to twist my words around, you are only reinforcing my belief that hardcore consercatives are incapable of seeing views that differ from your own.
