Heard on the radio yesterday evening, when driving home from work that Pres Bush meet with world leaders yesterday and assured them that America's economy is going to be allright as he is on top of it and he has it under control. Whew I feel much better now........................................

The part about this entire financial fiasco that bothers me is that neither party said anything about how bad it was until crunch time. Now they say they have it under control (my ass) . Time to buy more ammo and get your garden ready. Tuff times are a comin....Luckily my income has always been so low compared to the rest of the country I probably won't feel it as bad. My parents grew up in the depression and said they never knew they were in it. They always had a roof and food and thought life was normal.
Ky, It was scarcasim, lol lol lol lol. Not a big Bush fan here.

My mother recently died at the age of 85. I was going through her "things" and came across a Ration ID card and a book of Food Ration Stamps from the depression of 1929-193?, that she had kept from her parents estate. I found some payroll envelopes that her father had kept from days when he was a railroad engineer. One says that he worked 67 hours that week and received $7.60 pay.
There were some post cards and letters from family members telling how their husbands had traveled from Arizona to Oregon to find work. They couldn't find any and went to a "man-camp" where a large logging operation was beginning. When they arrived there were 2,000 men lined up for 175 jobs and neither of the husbands was hired. Stories were told of no food, droughts, dead crops, no work and horrible hardships. Until the day my grandmother died, she wouldn't throw as much as a twine string away because she "might need it" some day.
With all that is going on right now, I can't help but think of those cards and letters and wonder if wasteful America may be about to learn a painful lesson.
I hear you Stratos. It reminds me of a line from an Alabama song that says:The part about this entire financial fiasco that bothers me is that neither party said anything about how bad it was until crunch time. "Somebody told us Wall Street fell
But we were so poor that we couldn't tell."
Plenty of ammo and a decent garden here, problem is gass prices are hurting us because my wife works 25 miles away.
WE can skin a buck or run a trotline, country boys can survive, Hank Jr says it best, also a great post Bug.
Man I would feel much better if Barry and his Corporate goons told me that! These guys know how to run great companies like Fannie and Freddie so they have to be capable of running our country...why else would he have them on his staff? Another good choice Barry!Heard on the radio yesterday evening, when driving home from work that Pres Bush meet with world leaders yesterday and assured them that America's economy is going to be allright as he is on top of it and he has it under control. Bassin bug my grandparents were the exact same way. We are truly a wasteful country. If times get hard for the working folks how will the folks that have never worked get by? There won't be enough people paying taxes to support the welfare system.
