Everyone I have talked to says fish are scattered right now. I experienced that also last weekend fishing the area of the lake that you will be at. I would fish shallow early then move to structure (points and drops) late morning and afternoon. Be very careful on the lake right now. Stay inside the markers and look at a good map closely. Never assume you are in a safe depth especially outside the channel markers. Lots of accidents this time of year. Be safe first and foremost !
Check out my weekly fishing report on the Ky Lake Report page...just put up a new one.
Dave..........I REALLY need to get down there sometime with you.........
It is AMAZING how much you're willing to share of your fishing skills and capabilities........
I'm too going to be down there next weekend, and will be using stuff from your report..........
AGAIN..........
THANKS.
Later,
Geo
Geo: Thanks for the kind words. I have been doing tournament prep trips and teaching trips all week this week, which means I have been running and gunning a lot to show a lot of different spots and patterns. These type trips do not normally lend themselves to catching a lot of fish because I am moving a lot but even with all this running we managed to catch good fish both shallow and deep. Right now I would say pick your favorite pattern and go for it. Our best day this week was on a ledge teaching trip. We hit 4 ledges in 5 hours covering about 40 miles of water in a circuit. Our best 5 keepers went about 18lbs..of course weights tend to go up when you have a client bag one over 7lbs...lol. That is the 6th fish over 7lbs in my boat in the past few weeks....and it has nothing to do with my skills, now finding fish is definitely a skill, but getting the big fish like that has more to do with luck...and I will take all I can get...lol. I need to buy a lottery ticket before this big fish thing wears off!
Thanks Dave, I do read your reports and they are much appreciatted. You always share, thanks. I see there is a cold front going to move in mid next week maybe. We are coming in on Wednesday. Will be interesting to see what they do as it cools down a bit. Maybe a feeding frenzy?
