Yes, different lakes and different limits, and also so common sense.!0 innches is pretty good, but some lakes need to have smaller size limits. Bag limits is a pretty good idea, why catch 40, clean 25, and throw away the rest?Mixed slots sounds like a way to help some lakes.

Herrington ... no size limit (30/person/day)
    Taylorsville ... 9" (15/person/day)
Cedar Creek ... no size limit (30/person/day)
Cave Run ... no size limit (30/person/day)
    Cumberland ... 10" (30/person/day)
    Green River lake ... 9" (30/person/day)
    KY/Barkley lakes ... 10" (20/person/day)
    Rough River/Nolin lakes ... 9" (30/person/day)
    Dale Hollow ... 10" (15/person/day)
Ky River ... no size limit (30/person/day)

I've caught Crappie in all of these waters, except Nolin & Dale Hollow, which I've never fished. Cedar Creek has an abundance of 8" or less Crappie, that need to be thinned out. Biggest Crappie I've ever caught, from KY waters, has exceeded 2lbs and came from the following : Herrington, Barkley Lake, KY Lake, & Green River Lake.

Take plenty of minners ... LOL!!!

Couple of weekends ago, my fishing partner and I caught 20-30 out of one spot. We were casting 1/16oz weedless jigheads w/CrappiePro solid body tubes. Green/char seemed to be as good a choice of colors as any. But, only a few actually "thumped" it hard enough to be very noticable. Mostly you'd feel a little "shaking" on the end of the line, very faint ... or you'd see the line move to one side. Those were the "hits".
We were tied off between two cedar trees, casting out towards the main lake, retrieving our jigs over the tops of some submerged trees that happen to be on a dropoff .. just outside of the two were were tied onto.

It sounds wastefull, but some of these lakes with stunted crappie, need to be fished down, dont put allthose small ones back it dosn't help. Was invited to fish a private pond once, and was told, keep those small fish, either take them with you,.or drop them off and he'd bury them.

    Re: crappie limits??

Some of you might not agree with me on this...but as far as how many fish it takes to make a "good mess", at my house the number is six. I realize this doesn't sound like many fish, especially when it comes to crappie...but when you're talking about six crappie that are anywhere from 10" to 14" and fat...six fish equals twelve fillet's, that's a nice mess at my house, especially after you figure in the green beans, cole slaw, hush puppies or whatever kinds side dishes you all like. Of course it's just me and my wife sitting down at the table so there's only two mouths to feed...but even with a family of four 12 fish should be plenty. I'm not against the creel limits so max out if you can, I just figured I'd throw the thought out there regarding how many fish I think it takes for a decent sized meal.

    Re: crappie limits??

Since I live minutes away from two lakes, my feelings are the same. Cleaning enough to eat at one meal has been my bag limit lately. !0 gills will feed more than enough, 6 would probably be better, and cleaning a bunch of fish, just isn't that much fun anymore.
