I don't use it, but some might?
Exactly what is it for when looking at threads?
I had never heard of it until you posted this, but I went and Google'ed it and it sounds like a great idea. It would make it easier to find posts related to a particular subject, without having to search for a particular word or phrase and hoping you get lucky. Like say somebody posts about Float 'n' Fly. You could tag that thread with "FnF", "Float and Fly", "Floating Fly", or whatever. Then searching for any of those would find that thread, no matter whether the word or phrase that the person searches for actually appears in it. If somebody misspells an important word, say in the title of a thread, no big deal, you just tag it with the same word, spelled correctly, and then it can be found by searches using either spelling. Over time, as people use tags, you develop what's called a "tag cloud," which is just a visual depiction of the most important tags (how many it lists is up to you, the Admins), with visual clues like text color or font size to indicate their relative importance (how many threads are associated with the tag, how many times it's been searched for, etc). And you can allow anybody who reads a posting to add tags, or restrict it to the starter of a thread, or to only admins, however you want to do it. It's one of those things that people might not use a whole lot at first, but once they get used to it, they'll wonder how they did without it. I say go for it!
Thanks. I have it turned on for registered users. Looks like threads can be tagged and not individual post. The tag box is after the last post on the screen that shows all the posts. Thanks for looking into that.
