I found the red ear's on a main point grass bed at mouth of Fanny's Creek in about 15 foot of water. I use red worms for them. Use 4 to 6 lbl line with a small shot 16 inches up the line with #8 wire hook. Let the red worm sink to the bottom and just fish it like you would a T-rig very slow until you find where they are. The reason I found them I was casting a pin minnow into a shad pod and caught one so then I started using a red worm. They will hit a night crawler, but they will absolutely eat your hook off for a red worm. Red worms have a smell to them that gills and crackers realy love. You will also find crackers if you look for rocks and gravel banks that support the little twisted shells. All of the crackers I opened had those little twisted black shells in them. That is their main diet because they have crushers in their throat to crush them. Their intestinal system can also desolve them as well. Hope this helps. Dale has some of the biggest crackers of all the lakes in KY.
