Going to Kentucky lake tommorrow for a few days. Wanting to know what pattern to key on. Looking for some better sized fish, not concerned with numbers. Thanks

Best advice I can give is.....Don't be afraid to move and be flexible. The fish seem to be scattered and moving a lot. You can find them on ledges, points, flats, and in the backs of creeks and pockets, but NOT consistently. Watch your graph and the surface and look for baitfish.

BE WARNED!!! The lake is at winter pool. Run the marked channels and if you don't know the bay you are entering, drop to idle. Err on the side of safety....It is dangerous out there out of the marked channels!

    Re: Kentucky Lake

If I were looking for a big fish I would lock down on a good ledge. My biggest fish are still coming off ledges (5lbs plus). But if you want numbers go shallow...lots of fish there, just got to wade thru a lot of little fish yet to get your keepers. As far as running and gunning...not in my book. You find fish you fish them...I am not having a problem getting a limit most days...but if you start running and gunning the odds go down. You do have to be patient...especially this time of year.

    Unhappy Re: Kentucky Lake

If you want to have some fun, go out one evening and fish at nie, Went down on Ky last nite (Monday nite) and had 35 keeper s, mostly smallmouths and several were in the 4-5 lbs range, the biggest one I had on came up, must of jumped 4 feet in the air and spit my tube out, smallmouth are awl some!! All were caught on black and blue or black with red flake tube fished texas rigged and rigged with 1/8 jig head inside tube. East bank and the inside of main lake points on east bank, wind got up pretty good after midnight and had to fish secondary points in the bays with chunk rock as the main lake got pretty rough. Just be careful running lake at nite as its really low. Was probable my last night fishing trip for the year, saddens me!!!!!
