    Need Dale Hollow Redear Help

I'm taking my son to Dale Hollow Friday to try to catch some fish. I saw a post on another site where someone, who I think posts on here sometimes, caught some redear at Dale Hollow and it got me to thinking that redear would be perfect for my son and I to try to catch. Would someone mind giving me a few tips on how to rig and what to look for to have some success. I haven't fished for them since I was a kid fishing in the Alabama Delta. I haven't seen a duckblind in 2' of water or a seedshrimp in years and I'm lost when I'm trying to catch a shellcracker or a bream of any size. Thanks,
    Mike

Re: Need Dale Hollow Redear Help

I fish for red ear slash big blue gills a lot here on Dale. and stay in touch with a neighbor who has much better results, they are scattered and it takes lots of moving, we arent just starting down a bank and loading the boat like we can do at times.....

Red ear do better on red worms than cricketts, I dont fish the lay downs particularly mostly draggin the rig off the bottom split shot #6 hook, dont be afraid to fish 15-20 of water its just a slow retrieve let it drag the bottom.... if you use a light wire hook it works better,

anytime you find grass near deep water with the broken pockts of grass work it, like i said to put 25 fish in the boat will take some work ....
let me know how you do Ill be out there thurs this week and some friday for sure

Thanks for the reply. I will post results (if not too poor) when I get in.
If I remember correctly, you saved my behind from a skunkin last fall on the smallies. I couldn't buy a bite on artificial baits but was finally able to salvage the day on live bait on a bank similar to what you described on here. I really appreciate your posts.

My cousin went fishin the other day on a Lake in Indiana. It was windy and they did the same technique except let the wind blow them and drift fished. They had a good day. Tippesaw Lake was the name I think

Thanks to all of you guys for the tips. I'm gonna get this figured out at some point. I did see some up shallow and they're still there. I don't know if it was me today or the weather, never been a fan of blue bird skies, but it was a long day with the only activity (brown fish) being morning and darn near black dark.

Friday was tough! Tried crappie, no luck, got several nice gills, but not as good as it was monday and thursday.
