Heading to Ky Lake this week. Wondering if any one had a report from this weekend.
I have not put up a new report yet, but there would be no significant changes to my last report if I wrote a new one this morning.
I was at Kendall last week....left there Friday and back on the water here on Saturday morning. Had a great time with my ol buddies last week...got some down time just relaxing around the camp. Back to work now of course. Had two good days on the water here this weekend....bass are still in the transition bite but we managed a lot of fish both days with two good limits each day and countless short fish. Topwater bite was great both days.
Big Gw and myself will be down the first week in November and was wondering which size sammy to buy the 85,100 or 115.thanks
I fished Saturday and found plenty of schooling action in the backs of bays in 2 ft or less of water - a few good fish in those schools early, but the majority of them are 12" or 13" size fish with the occasional big one slapping the water to keep you interested...good luck catching that big one. I found schooling smallmouth on a flat on the main lake - it was unreal! There had to be hundreds of smallmouth in there! There were gladly hitting a small jerkbait - some were hitting it so hard and so fast that I couldn't get hooked up! They about knocked the rod out of my hands on several occasions! Most were small fish, but I did have a couple keepers on the line that I couldn't get to the boat - they were so wound up that they spent more time in the air than in the water! I haven't seen anything like it! They were up in less than a foot of water, herding massive balls of shad.
I went back Sunday, and those smallmouth were still there - they would got nuts for 10 or 15 minutes, and then it would die for a little bit, then they'd be back at it again. I decided to leave them alone and fish the drop at the edge of the flat. In doing that, I started hooking up on largemouth, extremely fat largemouth that somehow knew not to grow any larger than 14.99" - I had three like that! And when I say fat, I mean fat!
All in all, the action is great on the lake, but it's a matter of finding the big ones right now. Everyone I talked to out there and at the ramp was having the same problem.
An thoughts on how this cold front will affect the bass after it blows through on Thursday. This weekends temperatures look like the highs will be in the 60's and the lows in the lower 40's. Fishing Friday thru Monday.
We are heading town tonight / early in the morning and fishing through Friday. I hope it does not drive em back out but eh... Gonna giver a go. Hopefully Dave's pattern will hold.
Thanks everyone for the input. Heading down in the morning. Dave, I am booked with you for Thursday and will call tomorrow when I am down there. Darrell, I call and let you know how we do.
