It ran a little rough one weekend so I ran some seafoam thru it while hooked up to the hose and took it out the next weekend find I had this current problem. Any ideas. The plugs seem fine and the compression seems fine.

You say the plugs "SEEM" fine. Have you changed them? If so it may be the stator.

Final Results..My bro took the boat back to the dealer...seems the linkage was not set right, they were more than helpful, after a quick adjusment they took it on the river and it ran like a champ he said..ran 5400-5600 rpms and came up on a plane, with two people in the boat. He was totally satisfied. Thanks to everyone who replied. Warren

That is what I thought it sounded like to me ..... the shifting into reverse was the main clue that something was wrong
