    Re: Crappie fishing....Minnows vs Plastics?

southern pro makes the best crappie tube ever. i have every single color they make i belive....there bout 89 cents a pack and there well worth it, ive caught way more fish on crappie tubes then minnows or anything else. ive even caught a few largemouth and bullheads while using them, caught a snapping turtle once

Plastic for me! Minnows are too much trouble. I like southern pro tubes also. I think they are a little better that the ones from bass pro called lil squirts or something.

    Re: Crappie fishing....Minnows vs Plastics?

If I'm Crappie fishing ... I'm using plastics about 95% of the time. Sitting still/tied up and relaxing ... I'll put on minnows. But, if I'm serious about it ... I'm casting !! Jigheads/plastics, marabou jigs, or marabou Roadrunners have put more Crappie in the livewell, for me, than minnows ever did ... and bigger ones, too.
I like alot of different brands, but some of my more favorite ones are :
    Panfish Assassin Shads
    CrappiePro Solid Body Tubes
    BPS Sparkle Squirts (hollow tubes)
    Roadrunners (marabou)

    Mostly I use 1/32oz & 1/16oz jigs/jigheads/RR's ... regardless of method of presentation.

    Re: Crappie fishing....Minnows vs Plastics?

I very rarely use minnows, but there are times when they are needed.

I either tie on one 1/16 or double rig 2 - 1/32 w/ diff colors.
always 4# line on 7' rods
