Well, there's a ton of different replys. Here's another one. I use cork cleaner fron Net Craft once a year. You just sand the handles til they're scruffed, then use a small paint brush to apply. Works very well. Phil

Leave the plastic on when you buy them! Just kidding, I have used the Mister Clean Magic Eraser a few times and it worked fine. I just don't clean my very often.
i have never cleaned my handles clean everything else butt the handle maybe i should give it a try one day mr. clean pads are a great idea.
I use Mr clean Magic Eraser also. Works like a charm. Once a year I put filler on mine also to fill in the pits. It's just more comfortable without all of the pits to me. I use Elmer's carpenter's wood filler in Golden Oak. That's what I use on the rods that I build and it's the same thing that the rodbuilding website's sell as cork filler.
