    The Great President Bush

President Bush has served as president of our country during it's most difficult times. These times are the most difficult the nation has seen in over a hundred years. He has had some tough decisions to make using the information available while fending off resistance from the democratic party. Some of those decisions , Regime change in Iraq. Due to the fine job the media has done in making the people think that the only reason we went into Iraq was for WMD he has become unpopular. The media doesn't mention the 17 UN resolutions that were before that. Or the slaughter of the sunnis in the south after we left IRAQ in 91.It was enough reason for me that they were shooting at our pilots on a daily basis in the no-fly zone. That should be enough. Water boarding- The president has the primary duty of defending this country. If dunking a prisoner in water prevents another attack like 9/11 then I'll pay the water bill. The economy- The congress has a finance committee to oversee these big businesses. Barney Franks fell asleep at the helm. Immigration- This is an easy one. If you're here illegally, anchor baby, or not you must go back home. They are a drain on our system. If you are illegal and are contributing to our society then when you legally apply for citizenship you will have a 5 point preference. President Bush has done a great job in very trying time with the support that he had. I’m not talking about the fly-by-night, politically correct support given by the democrats. Democrats voted for the war in Iraq. Why can’t they live with that? Bush is human and has made mistakes, but he has worked hard to make them right. Remember, there are three things that affect a leader. It is easy to Monday morning quarterback with the information we have now.The leader himself, the situation, and the followers.

    Re: The Great President Bush

Just because someone tried hard doesn't make them a success. Our country is in the worst shape it has been in since I can remember. Sure there alot of factors that have contributed to our current situation, but it all starts at the top. A president, above all else, should be a good leader and bring people together, regardless of political affiliation to achieve goals. Bush has helped create a divide in this country, and that is a failure in leadership. America has lost it's global appeal, and is no longer held in such esteem around the globe as it once was. Ask anybody from any foriegn country what the major problem is with America, and they will say Bush - he really has become a global punch line. The American President was once one of the most respected people/positions on Earth, and it no longer is. Hopefully, our next president, regardless of who it is, will be able to restore the prestige that came along with the position as president of the US.

President George W. BUSH WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS ONE OF THE GREATEST PRESIDENTS OF ALL TIME,period. I don't need to tell you how i feel about the global community. If they hate Bush so much why don't they stop exporting to the U.S.?

Col. Forbin, your response to the initial post of this thread isn't worth even talking about....Mr. George W. Bush has led this Country extremely well considering all aspects of his time in Office. It's Democrats like yourself that just hate to admit that he's done one heck of a good job for the conditions he's faced.

I'd still take Mr. Bush for 8 more years, before I'd take the wanna be Presidential hopeful you Dems. are trying to shove down the American peoples throats....But since Mr. Bush can't run again, then we'll take the republican's choice to replace him in Office....Mr. John McCain.....

Bill Clinton was the one responsible for taking the respect away from the president of the U.S. not George Bush.

    Re: The Great President Bush

Col.........how did you come to HATE our country so much........

If we're so BAD, why does EVERYONE, and I pretty much MEAN EVERYONE want to live here. WHY?????

If we're so BAD, and the world SEES us so POORLY, then why did the rest of the FREE world vote for more conservative values than in HISTORY. France voted OUT Chirac for Sarkozy, a pro USA conservative.....Germany THREW OUT Schroder a SOCIALIST for Merkel, another PRO US conservative. Italy voted OUT Prodi for Berlusconi......NOT the best, but a Liberal Conservative. The Brits....our GREATEST ally is voting in the TORIES over the Labor party.......etc, etc, etc, etc.

My point being; While the WORLD is leaning more center - right than center or center left, we will be electing the MOST LIBERAL of all WORLD leaders, and the MOST LIBERAL EVER in our country.

Is it just me or does the REST of the world that "seems to hate us", really NOT hate us as much as you'd like.

Or do you suppose the Muslim Uprising in France had anything to do with the shift.......Or the 30% unemployment in SOCIALIST FRANCE have anything to do with it..........

    HM.

    Later,

    Geo

This was a MAJOR force in 2000..........can anyone guess whose it is:

    709,000 REGULAR (ACTIVE DUTY) PERSONNEL.

    293,000 RESERVE TROOPS.

    EIGHT STANDING ARMY DIVISIONS!

20 AIR FORCE AND NAVY AIR WINGS WITH 2,000 COMBAT AIRCRAFT

    232 STRATEGIC BOMBERS.

9 STRATEGIC BALLISTIC MISSILE SUBMARINES WITH 3,114 NUCLEAR WARHEADS ON 232 MISSILES.

FOUR AIRCRAFT CARRIERS AND 121 SURFACE COMBAT SHIPS AND SUBMARINES PLUS ALL THE SUPPORT BASES, SHIPYARDS, AND LOGISTICAL ASSETS NEEDED TO SUSTAIN SUCH A NAVAL FORCE.

AND this is WHY we cannot project POWER around the world, and the world views us differently, and why RUSSIA is having maneuvers off the coast of South America, and WHY Cuba acts the way the do, and WHY North Korea acts the way they do, and WHY Iran continues to call Israel the SCUM of the EARTH..........the KNOW we cannot RESPOND.

THANKS.............William JEFFERSON Clinton for making us vunerable, and starting a 3rd COLD WAR.

THANKS...............William JEFFERSON Clinton for making us WEAK in the eyes of our enemies.........

THANKS...............WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, for STARTING our downfall...........

The prestige of the presidency of the United States started heading south as soon as Monica went south on Clinton. To blame the position we are in now as a nation soly on Bush, is ridiculous. And to say that a rookie senator with no experience what-so-ever is going to change the direction of this country is also ridiculous. You can blame the liberal media on Bush's ratings...they've had an agenda, and they've stuck to it.

You are not old enough to know what true bad shape is. Bad shape is 21% mortgage interest rates, double digit unemployment, skyrocketing inflation, watching our citizens held hostage by the Iranian government for 444 days, watching a long range helicopter based rescue attempt end with the death of our brave service men. All this was during the Jimmy Carter administration, the guy Barack Obama is most like. It is worth noting the Iranians turned the hostages loose just before Reagan took office, knowing I'm sure what they were going to get once the weak kneed Carter was out of office. Ole Jimmy did talk a lot to those fine and reasonable folks though.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden are closet Marxists feeding off the votes of all those who believe they'll take from the rich and give to them. Think we're in bad shape now? Jack up the taxes on corporations who're providing jobs, slap windfall taxes on oil companies, tax all those 'rich' small business owners, add another huge branch or two of the federal government...then we're all going to find out what 'bad shape' really is like. That you BO supporters can't understand that confounds me.

What the rest of the world thinks of us has absolutely no relevance, in fact if countries like France don't like us, that's a good sign. Other countries who blame everything on Bush hate him because he has the backbone they lack. He doesn't subscribe to their liberal pacifist notions, and I'm very proud of him for it. Barack Obama will turn this country back into the paper tiger it was during the Carter years.

I haven't completely given up hope, but I'm already getting my "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain" bumper sticker ready. God help this great country once Dems have the white house and congress.

Part of the Iran-Contra scandle if I remember right.

Sorry, but I gotta disagree with this. Certainly there are some countries out there whos opinion means nothing, but to blow off the rest of the world is a little arrogent in my book. You have to learn to live with others even if you do not agree with them.

How could Reagan have cut a weapons for hostages deal with the Iranians before he was even President? According to what I read, The Iran Contra scandal initially involved trading weapons through the Israelis to a group of moderate Iranians thought to be opposed to Khomeni for their help in getting 6 hostages released (nothing to do with the embassy hostages). Later a bunch of Reagan administration officials were indicted for selling weapons to Iranians through a weapons dealer and giving the proceeds to the Contras. Those officials were pardoned by George H. Bush.

The President should make decisions based on what's best for our country, not what other countries think or say. I didn't say blow them off in arrogance. Toss them a couple of platitudes like they do us, then do what needs to be done, to hell with what they think. First time their butt's in a sling they'll come to us for help anyway, they always do. Maybe you can explain a situation where another country's opinion should influence our decisions.

    Re: The Great President Bush

Not positive on the Iran-Contra stuff, thats why I asked. I know there were a number of things going on at that time. Also rumors of Bush I meeting with the Iranians prior to the election. Been a few years, and some of those years are a bit fuzzy

I agree that if we are talking internal stuff then other people's opinions do not count. On the world stage, we have to balance what is right for us along with what is right for the rest of the world. Not an easy task.
