Col Forbin you said there were not many attacks before 911 well not on our soil but we had many attacks during the Clinton administration and every one he came on TV and promised justice and did nothing. As far as our standings in the foreign countries I for one do not care I am sick and tired of being the good guy while every third world nation wants to kick us around. I will assure when there is a national disaster in any of these regions we will become relevant enough that they will take our extreme generosity. We have also seen leadership changes in France and Germany which has improved our relations with them we also have seen dramatic improvement in Libya. We also have a great chance to set up a democratic country in Iraq and this will put a great deal of pressure on North Korea, Iran, SyriaAs for the war we did go in for two reasons WMD and the United Nations had become so irrelevant that dictators were getting by with murder and genocide I for one am glad Bush drew the line in the sand and said we are not going to allow this bullying any more. What we did not expect was after we did this al-Qaida did us a favor by leaving Pakistan where we could not go and came to us.

Geo - I love this country, and I think you are foolish for saying I don't love it. My only point is Bush was not a very good president, and you conservatives want to argue with me as well as the majority of the GOP (your own party) that he was some great world leader - and the only evidence you or anyone is giving is that "we haven't been attacked". I was just providing a flip side to the argument you presented, but apparently you are incapable of seeing anything outside of your own views as being acceptable. Attack me personally, I don't care, but say I hate this country you are wrong. Your views are not the only views in the world.

You and several others on here have just proven that true conservatives are incapable of debating issues without getting your panties in a wad. You don't discuss the issues you just say if I don't see things exactly your way, I am wrong.

Oh Yes... and Thanks William Jefferson Clinton from saving our economy from the grasps of another recession brought on by the first Bush Administration.

I believe that in debating is me stating my views on individual subjects and why I have those views and you reciprocate. Sometimes these discussions can get frustrating when facts are not introduced to back up the respective speaker. When individuals present information as fact, that information has to come from a reliable source. The only way to do this would be to cite the source. This is a discussion board and I would think it would be ridiculous to do that. One thing is for sure, "People are passionate about politics". I have to commend everyone on here for acting civilized and stating their views in a civilized manner. This is an impersonal discussion format and I doubt that people are committing personal attacks against anyone. There may be attacks but they are against your ideas and views that you post. I hope no one takes this personally. It's good healthy discussion. BTW, I'm a life long Independent but I vote according to the information I have at hand and how the candidates proposed actions will affect me and my country.

Well, it's not the same. The U.S. was patrolling the no-fly zone to protect the Shiites in the south and the Kurds in the north. It was an agreement signed by Iraq at the end of the Gulf war.

    Re: The Great President Bush

I've been around long enough to remember Jimmie Carter. I remember helicopters crashing in the desert and our people being held for months. This is when the extremists realized that we had no spine. It's been down hill ever since. We were attacked during Bill's tenure. The twin towers were car bombed. I don't remember Bill standing on the ruins threatening to get the bad guys no matter what. I do remember him turning tail in Somalia. The U.S.A. defeated by a drug lord no less. Yes that will instill confidence in our allies all around the world. Of course Barak wont turn his back on any allies.

I'm not that much of a W fan, he's not conservative enough for me. I think he has done alot of harm as far as spending goes. The independents no longer can tell the difference between a lib and a conservative and they are the ones that will decide this one. I do like W's will though. He went after the bad guys and hasn't backed down even though the dems have done a good job of making him look bad. I say we use this same tactic on the next president and maybe he will only last 4 yrs. After all, the other side is the enemy right? Yeah right. We can't even come together as a country to fight a common enemy. It has to be politicized in hopes we can get that guy out of office.

The only difference between Bill and Richard is Richard went away. In NIxons case, the repubs went to him and told him he was on his own. In Clintons case, the dems basically said we don't care what you did, we are behind you. In both cases they both tried to cover up. Thats what got both of them in trouble, the cover up.

A president, above all else, should be a good leader and bring people together, regardless of political affiliation to achieve goals. Bush has helped create a divide in this country, and that is a failure in leadership. America has lost it's global appeal, and is no longer held in such esteem around the globe as it once was. Ask anybody from any foriegn country what the major problem is with America, and they will say Bush - he really has become a global punch line. The American President was once one of the most respected people/positions on Earth, and it no longer is. Hopefully, our next president, regardless of who it is, will be able to restore the prestige that came along with the position as president of the US.
The prestige of the presidency of the United States started heading south as soon as Monica went south on Clinton. To blame the position we are in now as a nation soly on Bush, is ridiculous. And to say that a rookie senator with no experience what-so-ever is going to change the direction of this country is also ridiculous. You can blame the liberal media on Bush's ratings...they've had an agenda, and they've stuck to it.

I am not saying it his fault, only that your logic behind that argument is flawed.

President Clinton screwed up on a personal level. But on a professional level he was and still is respected around the world as a great leader.

I will go as far to agree that he has been a mediocre president. But considering the position and the responsibilities that go along with it, anything less than good is a failure.
LOL! President Clinton...a respected, great leader! That's good stuff! Let's just imagine for a second that 9/11 happened with Clinton in office....(which isn't a stretch, since Osama and his followers had been planning this along with all the other attacks they carried out during Clinton's productive years as president).....could you even imagine where we would be now! I can guarantee you this....we would have been attacked again and again....there would have been no pursuit of terrorists, no interegations, no monitoring....we would have been sitting ducks! At least Bush did something to keep our country safe....for that, he has my praise.

I seem to remember a missle attack ordered by Clinton. I also remember the repubs claiming it was all to get people's attention away from Monica. Seems they put politics before country, again. After all, the leading repub gunning for Clinton (Gingrich) was having his own affair while he went after Clinton for lying about his affair. Face it, any more, both parties ****. Vote them all out in this election.

    Re: The Great President Bush

The bottom line is this! President Bush was in office at the time of the attacks! So Just how safe of a pres was he to begin with. Even the great Condolisa Rice will tell you they were warned about the attacks. IT IS OSAMA BIN LADIN'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ATTACKS PERIOD!!!!!! It is George Bush's fault for our loss of over 3000 troops lost in Iraq!! He himself will tell you that he ordered troops their because he thought they had weapons of mass destruction, not because of planes being shot down or because of what happened when "daddy" was in office. He was wrong! Their were no WOMD!!!!! And for that we lost many young american lives! I dont understand how Dan Rather gets a face to face interview with Osama Bin Ladin but for some reason we still cant find him! Why didn't we take Bin Ladin then?

IF YOU WANT THE RICH TO GET RICHER AND THE POOR TO GET POORER AND THE MIDDLE CLASS (LIKE MYSELF) TO KEEP PAYING ALL THE TAXES AND HIGHER GAS PRICES AND MORE DEBT DEBT DEBT AND LOST RETIREMENTS,JOBS,DECREASING WAGES AND INCREASING COST OF LIVING THEN VOTE FOR JOHN MCAIN. If you want lower gas prices, less debt ,lower taxes, higher wages and more jobs!! THEN VOTE OBAMA!!! GO OBAMA!!!!!
BECAUSE LETS FACE IT HE WILL BE OUR NEXT PRES!!!
