Mrs. Smalljaws here,
Per my husband's instruction, I am posting to you that he is holding his own...He is currently in Room 539 at UK, and is in the isolation unit for infectious disease. He is in pretty good spirits, and is being very cooperative with the staff and doctors. He went through a series of scans yesterday, and the doctor thinks there is a leak in his small intestine that is causing the infection, but have not confirmed it yet. He is now down 80+ pounds from August 2008, and the doctor is concerned about this out of control weight loss. The plan is to put him on a high calorie liquid plan to keep him from losing anymore, if possible. His immune system is compromised, that is why he is in the isolation unit, and because the infection he has can become airborne if it spreads to his lungs. He is in good hands, and we trust his surgeon. Thank you all for your support, your prayers, and the love that you surround our family with. God must have great plans for Elwood, and wants to make sure that he can handle the task...At least that is how I look at it for now. Have a great day.

Elwood, you and your son are in mine and Becky's thoughts and prayers here....keep the faith.
I talked to him this afternoon. He's prepared to do whatever is needed.
Lots of folks count on Elwood for a lot of things. I count on him to keep me sane. He never pulls any punches. WHen he came and picked me up from my emergency room hospital experince, he took me home, then went back and got my medicine. We dropped off the script at the CVS on the way home. He made it PERFECTLY clear to the lady at the window, that he was taking me home and returning with my drivers license and Credit card to get my medicine. And it would'nt leave there with out it. We'll he got it...LOL(I'm surprised they didn't give it to him for free).
We have this big plan to fish one-on-one at the FIshin.com deal at Horse Creek in Horse Creek and have it filmed. That's something I can't wait for.
We, at Fishin.com, depend on him for his details about the F-n-F. He raises the curiosity levels to new folks on a different level than most.
Get well Buddy.
i hope you get well soon and u should know that its because of u that i started tying my own fnf jigs because the colors they sell are cool but to catch them big ol brown fish on something that is homemade just makes it that much better... i am also experimenting with the aspirin heads too.... i hope u get well soon and see you on the lake in december...
Ain't much I can add here to what others have already said, but I'm all for you kicking this thing that's going on with you and getting your life back to normal, you've been having to deal with it way to long...any length of time is to long but you've really been put through the trenches on this deal....Hang in there Elwood. And thanks Mrs Elwood for keeping us updated.
I don't know this gentleman nor have I met any of you, that I know of, but realized one thing for sure. Elnut must be 1 helluva guy to have touched so many and stirred such emotions. To his friends, stay in touch with him. As for the family - His friends are your family too.
Thinking of you Elnut
