    Rossi youth???

I'm looking at getting my son a Rossi youth matched pair 22LR/410 or 22LR/20 ga. My questions are anyone know much about Rossi and which ga. 20? From back in the day seem the 410's cost more and harder to get. Looking for thoughts and suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Barry

    Re: Rossi youth???

My son (austin30900 on here) is 8 & has a Rossi .410 & absolutely loves it. Now, if you want the cheaper of the shells, I would go with the 20 ga. The reason I went with the .410 was to get him more used to a gun with a kick. Granted a .410 doesn't kick much at all, but to an 8 yr. old, to hear him talk about it, it about knocked his shoulder out of joint when he first shot it. It just took him getting used to it. He has killed 5 doves with it this year & is taking it deer hunting when we go.

    I hope this helps.

    Bandit1,

How do you like the quality of the Rossi? Is your son's a single shot?

    Thanks for your reply,
    Barry

I like it, it is a single shot. I like the looks of it. It holds a great pattern, & it is a mod. choke. He shot a turkey target from 30 yards & had, I think, something like 12 pellets in the head & neck alone. I thought that was pretty good for a .410. He can take a dove from a good little distance with it. His has the green stock & forearm. If you get the .410 & want a case to carry it "like Dad does", I got him a 10-22 case & it fits perfectly.

    Re: Rossi youth???

I bought my son a Rossi triple threat a few years ago. The price is a little higher, but you get the .243 barrell for deer hunting. So far he has taken three deer with it. I have been very happy with the performance and the .243 barrell and the .22 barrell are both tapped for scopes. The only problem is the gun only comes with one set of scope mounts. I bought my son's at Dicks in Oxmoor Mall. If you can get ahold of Championinky on this board he can tell you the price because he is a manager there.

Thanks guys, bought him one last night at ****'s. They had the match pair on sale after rebate for $90. I saw the other one that came with the .243. It would be nice but they looked like the same gun and thought I might be able to get a .243 for it later.

    Thanks again,
    Barry

You are right Barry, they are the same gun for the most part. I am sure you can get the extra barrel later, not sure of the cost, but probably not too expensive.
