    Question politics (why)??????

why do the members of this board post their political views and opinions??? most of the time (all most all of the time) it going to cause problems. i dont and wont post any political views because no one is going to see it the way i do and every one has his or her own opinions about politics and the candidates that are running for president or other political roll's. not trying to stir any pot or get any one upset im just curious why this touchy subject is discussed whe no one sees it the exact same way. too many feelings get hurt and some people are a little sensitive on the subject.

When done in a respectful way, political discussion can be of use. I like hearing different opinions on various subjects. Opens the mind up to other view points. I agree that if the discussion degrades into name calling and other BS there is no use. After all, discussing politics on an online forum is like being nominated for a darwin award. Even if you win, you are still an idiot

i like hearing other views as well apb, but some people are so wrapped up in right and left they cant stand to hear another point of view and IMHO there is a group of guys/gals on this forum that are so wrapped up in it that they are correct and every one else is an idiot cause they dont se eye to eye. guys in my opinion forget the right and left and go to cast a vote for the best man that will get the job done.

Great idea but look at our choices! The whole system should be an episode on Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs!

Politics can turn spouses into strange bedfellows and friends into enemies.
I was just saying to "Sweetie Pie" that political opinions should be like voting: Cloaked in secrecy. One man-one vote, nobody gets to go behind the curtain with you when you vote, and nobody gets to peek over your shoulder. We have the freedom to choose our own candidate without explaining who or why. We are all intelligent people and can make up our own mind. I've never met an escapee from the mental hospital coming out of the voting booth. However, I do have my doubts about people who try to force their views on me.

While I'm on my soapbox, after I vote, I don't want some bucket-mouth running up and asking who I voted for. That's part of my freedom to vote in secret and definitely none of their business.

Ahhh! I feel better now that I've gotten that off my chest.

Andrew (APB) hit the nail on the head. Believe it or not apb and I will fish together several times a year it's already been 5 or 6 times or more this year. Although we don't exactly see eye to eye on political stuff we are very good friends and stay in touch. We never talk of things of this nature in the boat and when we do it's short lived. We have never been out where we both didn't have a real good time. My point in all this I respect him as a person and he reciprocates it back. The discussion board is no different and if conducted in the same fashion and for the most part it usually is, it's very enlightening as I certainly don't have all the answers and can learn from others. I hope this made sense.

I too like to hear others points of view on their choices in elections.

I would have no problem with Hillary being the President or any other Democrat for that matter as long as it's not Obama.... His idea's and ideology for the American people are way off base and I feel he is nothing but a slick Talking snake in the grass.

It is great that we have a place to discuss the issues that concern and effect us all, wether you be Dem. Repub, Ind, or other, it shows concern for our nation and that we are discussing them makes it even better, if only the politicans would read some of our posts, they might get the real picture of what the people really want and not just a select few that control this country. I will argue all day to make my point, and state my belives, but still at the end of the day I would gladly get into a boat with anyone of you and have no hard feelings or anything, as we all have a RIGHT our OPINIONS and that is what makes this counrty great and sacared. We are a very young country compared to other nations, we are still in the learning stages about how to make it work for all, we are 232 years old, a very young country that has been an insperation to other countrys. We have grown quickly for such a young nation, probally too quick, as things are starting to wear and need some "maintinance" some parts changed, not a complete overhaul but a good fixing. If you look back ay history, all great nations have falling or tumbled at some time, and why should we be an exception, it is history and human nature,if we fall we will rebound and stronger than ever and hopefully learn from past mistakes, it has happened before it will again. We are young and still have a lot to learn, 232 years is not that long if you look at how long people have been on earth. Just something to think about.

If you don't want to hear any political discussion then you should vote straight ticket, correct? Political discussion, be it on this board or what they say on TV, shapes our views and opinions. Just because you may not agree with everything I have to say doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed. We probably won't shape each others opinions but it's always nice to hear someone elses view on a certain subject. Not trying to be negative I'm just sayin.
