Fishfinder, Visual Cover, or Blind Luck

Ok, what I'm trying to find out is how you catch most of your fish.

Do they come from finding structure (and fish) with your fish finder and then stayin put? This could be shallow or deep...

Or do most come from casting, flippin, pitchin to visual shoreline cover while mostly moving around.

Or just blind luck, meaning when you get bit nothing really stood out at least on the surface.

I guess the point I'm getting at is, lets say you find a nice little drop back in a creek that goes from lets say 8 to 20 feet. You mark a lot fish. Would you camp out there for a while or just hit it hard and move on.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm not being patient enough for these spots.

I don't have alot of patience for deep water fishing either. When I get to a ledge or drop I will throw a c-rig and a dd-22.for a little bit and then move on. I guess I am more of a shallow water target fisher 0-10feet deep. I like to see the structure, then I can visualize how the fish are positioned. It would be nice to find someone who is strong at deep water fishing an go with them fo a couple days to learn first hand how to do it and how much time to invest itno a spot.

If I found a drop in the back of a creek and I marked fish on it I would throw a few different presentations at a few different angles and if I didn't catch anything I'd move on. But I would make frequent stops throughout the day to make sure the marked fish were not biting. Just because their not biting on your first stop doesn't mean they won't bite all day. But I'm far from being a professional fisherman so my approach could be completely wrong.
