    Re: LG&E

It is the old supply and demand hat trick, they have the supply and they demand the price and demand you pay that price or you freeze, deregulation has really helped this industry, they have us by the throat, and wil not let go, this is where the gov needs to be regulating, utilitys that are a nessasity should not be privatally traded or owned as greed has got to them also. It is not for the good of the population for such single control of essintial services like. water, elec, gas etc.

I read a recent article in USA Today that states Russia, Iran and another country (CRS kicking in) was thinking of organizing an OPEC style group to control the Worlds Natural Gas prices. It's gonna happen for sure.....I'm changing my gas water heater to electric this Winter since it's 10 years old and my gas bill has increase 75% over the last few years. I wish Al Gore or T. Boone Pickens could help!

The corp of engineers, who built the tva , paid for by tax payers. and now after raising rates for most of its users, is giving the CEO a 500,000 bonus. Ah Government at work!

I was told it's just a matter of capping off the Gas line. I'm going to ask a local plumbing company who does this to check on the cost.

    Re: LG&E

WE need alternitve sources real soon, ins co's raise rates if you burn wood, and if that doesent stop you then the EPA will. Why do they not build more dams and generate like Dale, Cumberland, Barkley, KY, all the TVA lakes, why did they stop donig this, can't get much cleaner than water power? They are putting some generators on the Ohio now andthat is a start, looks like building a few more lakes could be beifictial for the economy, it would boost tourism in some areas, creat jobs, provider clean power, and also a resources that could be sold to others states that have water problems, the water could be sold also. And just think of all the new water to fish on, This is my win win plan for the enegry crisis and I approve this message.

I have Blue Grass Energy and mine appears to have gone up by about 25% as well.

    Re: LG&E

LG&E's problems started several years ago when they were bought by a Foreign company (French or English, I forgot). Then LG&E was sold again to I think a German company. When it was home owned we had some of the lowest rates in the country. Every time a business is sold then the new owners have to raise prices to recover their investments as soon as possible.

I toured the Hydro-electric plant in Louisville in 1999 and was told that while everyone thinks that the water is free that actually the Federal Government owns it and at that time was charging LG&E over a million dollars a year for the water that run their generators.

Build more dams? where, and how? a lot of our dams now are in bad shape, and need costly repair. what we seem to forget is the power grid needs immediate fixing, and that will be costly. We are in a prolonged drought, if it continues some of the generating will need to be curtailed. The west is in worse shape than us, atoic power is one answer, but putthat power into the wrong management, and a disaster could occur.Solar power, costly start up, and the power grid question comes into play. Wind? power grid again.Gee maybe thwere are just too many of us today, using more than we have. The last two times on the cumberland river, I noticed NO current, thats a big generating station there, how much longer will the station on dale keep going?i dont have answers, coal works, but what are the future costs?

Yes and I was forced to sell my LG&E Stock...No questions asked or anything....Was told I had no choice in the matter and received the selling price on a specific day period.... Now that is crap if you ask me for sure.....

Check into solar water heater. It is very simple and then you won't have to worry about all this. Passive "may" be best..no moving parts.
