    Attention Col Forbin: Apology Enclosed

If you felt I called you a name I sincerely apologize. Never mind you've called me and others worse in the past, I apologize anyway.

Your statement that government retirement systems are the best is ignorant of the facts. Let me define that with no name calling intended. You made a statement while ignoring the facts.

For example, your retirement plan isn't run by the government. Surprise! It's administered by a board of trustees who contract it's various management aspects out to PRIVATE companies like Baillie Gifford (Scotland), Baring Asset Management (subsidiary of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance), Prudential Financial, Molpus Woodlands Group, etc, etc...

You starting to get the drift? PRIVATE companies manage your retirement plan, not Uncle Sam. Bet that ratchets up the the pucker factor eh?

The only 'retirement' plan run by the federal government is social security, and even you have to admit the future it has.

I'll make you a deal, you familiarize yourself with your own retirement plan, and I'll look up the word ignorant to see if I applied it correctly.

That is still not true. Yes there is a board of trustees that is responsible for managing annuities, as well as responsible for proposing any changes. All changes must go through the state legilslation-not typical of your private/investment retirement, that is because it is not a privatized retirement system. The state government, in accordance with federal regulation manage my retirement.

I have choice through my 401K and 457B as to how much I put in, and how those funds are diversified. I have no say in my state retirement.

I still deny direct name calling or insulting. I did find one of your posts horribly offensive and racist, and my views on that have not changed.

What about the time you told another poster he added nothing to any discussion and his posts were irrelevant. Guess you figger that was an indirect insult. I'm disappointed in you for copping out and whacking posts, I musta really got under your skin. Stick around brother I'm just gettin rollin.

You're nit-picking on your retirement fund, you and I both know it. Your pension fund is managed where it counts by private companies. The board of trustees, chaired and comprised for the most part by teachers decides which private companies will manage different aspects of the plan. I haven't checked whether those decisions are approved by legislators, but that's not relevant anyway. The bottom line is private companies make the financial blending decisions and manage your funds, all the 'government' does is decide which company will do what.

I stand by my assertion. To declare government run retirement plans (social security is the only one actually 'run' by the government) are the best, you must ignore the facts. By definition to ignore the facts is to be ignorant. (Careful, let's not rouse the ire of the moderator here now.)

Face it man, the government is not always the answer. At least for those of us who can think for themselves and still want to be free it isn't.

Finally, for the record in the thread where you found my post horribly offensive and racist, I found your responses horribly naive, pacifist, and uninformed. Still do.

    We havin fun yet?

"not picking"????? Are you serious? I respond to a post, you call me stupid, I respond to that without stooping to your level of insult and stay on topic, and that is nit picking?

Relax. No, I'm not totally serious. Thought you'd figured out that part of the time I argue because it's fun.

I admire your courage to stand behind your ideology when heavily outnumbered. Your posts are intelligently framed and thought provoking, though admittedly I disagree with the content of most of them. You're one of my favorite people to debate, and I strongly believe you're dead wrong in this thread, but I didn't, and will never call you stupid.

Like many, I'm deeply concerned with the direction America's government will take. I'm frustrated, and my comments are probably sharper than they should be. In all seriousness I apologize for the needling. Hopefully we haven't gone too far to enjoy healthy debate and mutual respect regardless of which way the election goes.

That was me who wrote that because MSGMILLS posted a link to a hate spewing video that made me cringe, so you might want to ratchett up the apologies.

Guess I missed out on the post where things got interesting. Care to fill me in?

Yep, I want to add something to the posts that's relevant to the discussion. But my hind sight into knowing a Class Act Clown when I see one, don't mean nothing to the Democratic Party members of this board......

So I'll just keep on voting for the best candidate running in my eyes and that would be Sen. John McCain for President......

Wake up America before it's too late and the hands of the downfall to America will try and prevail......

I get confused easily pontooner, part of getting old I guess.

Good to hear from you man. Thought about dropping a bait down there deep where you lurk to see if I could get a bite, but figured you'd be too busy at the local ACORN chapter to respond.

Ever notice how often liberals call a difference of opinion spewing hate? Hate. The great liberal trump card.

Riddle me this. Are almost 100% of blacks, regardless of their political leanings voting for BO showing hate? If 95% of whites voted for McCain irregardless of their political beliefs, would that be hateful?

Sorry I'm not Pontooner but I couldn't let it go! Yep thats been documented with the black voters, they want a black man/woman with no regard to policies. Your keen observations hit a home run again.

Dang right that's racial, hateful and typical of white america! I am surprised at the unmitigated gall of white people asking such a question.
Ask Jerimiah Wright, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nagan, Anderson Cooper of CNN, Matt Laur of NBC and many other left wingers. They will tell you the same thing.

Blacks have a "get your foot out of your mouth race card" they can play...noone else does. Some played it more than once.
