Crank Bait Reels?

What brands/makes of reels do you guys use for crank bait fishing?
#1 for throwing small to medium crankbaits such as Model 6 A Bombers or the smaller size Bandits.
#2 for throwing the large crankbaits such as Norman DD22's.

I had a couple of older Quantums that I liked a lot but age and use finally put them to rest.

Looking for maximum distance and something that will hold up well as well.
Thinking about purchasing a couple of new reels, but would like in put on what to look at!

I like a Shimano Spinning Reel for small to medium crankbaits, and for the bigger ones I use a Hank Parker 4600C Ambassaduer.

I have one of those old Quantums that I keep oiled but don't use because I like the newer anti reverse feature on reels. It was great and broke more than once and is rough compared to the new smoother reels but I keep it for the memories.
I now use 5:1 shimanos for smaller cranks and I use my Lews/Browning with a 4:7 -1 ratio for the deep diving cranks.

I use an older shimano curado 100 for samller crankbaits.

And a 5:1 citica for big ones.

I think a longer rod, at least 7 feet, will add more to casting distance than anything. But, as far as reels go, I really like the two I use. I use several different brands of reels for different applications, but for crankbaits - especially lighter ones, Shimanos are tough to beat.

I'm a Shimano man but for my cranks I like the Team Diawa 103 HSD

IF/When I Bass fish ... I mostly throw cranks and plastics. My crankbait reel is a Shimano Calcutta 200 .. which I use for all the cranks I throw. My plastics throwin reel is a Bantam Mag 10X.
Don't really do much Bass fishing, anymore ... so I've just kept my "old school" equipment ... LOL !!
If I need "maximum distance" (over controlled distance) ... I'd use my Shimano Spirex 2000 spinning reel / 7ft Bionic Blade.

There are several very good reels on the market that will work very well with both small and larger crankbaits. Normally, you would want a lower gear such as 5:1 for your larger
DD-22. And you could use a 6:1 for small cranks. I use an Ardent XS1000 for all my cranks.
It does have a 6:1 gear, but I don't fish a DD22 to many times. The Ardent reel is an extremely long casting reel with a very smooth drag system. They are a little more costly,
but come with a full 3 year warranty and made totaly in the USA. I don't know where you live, but if you get a chance to cast one I beleive you will be pleased.

Now I have a better idea of what to look for this winter!
Also, I would have never thought so many individuals used a 6:2-1 gear ratio for crankbaiting! Prior to this post, I would have never considered a fast gear ratio for fishing crank baits.
