So, HOW do you use a radar detector NOT illegally.........

AN item that is created SPECIFICALLY for breaking the law.........should be ILLEGAL........

ARE there any other uses for a RADAR Detector, other than to attempt to BREAK the law??

Hey, Don it is reckless driving when you shave or put make-up on while behind the wheel.

In a several states it is illegal to have a radar detector in your vehicle, but not all.

    Ryan,
Thanks for the info, I never really gave alot of thought to the other activities that I am guilty of doing until I starting reading more of these opinions. Really makes me rethink some of what I do while driving. The searching for CD's or playing with the radio is a big thing for me as well as shaving. I'm going to be more careful for sure.

Let me answer that one and I promise it will be the best one you've ever heard. I have a family member who has two teenage daughters. She's one of those mothers whose kids have to have everything, and more than the other kids in school. When each reached age 16, she bought them a car for their birthday,and.............a radar detector.

Stupid me! I said, "Why on earth did you put radar detectors in the cars for the girls?" This is what that rocket scientist said: "I put them in there so the signal will go off and they'll know when they're driving too fast."

Yep, they're among us. I can't wait to hear their story about seeing blue lights flashing in the rear view mirror and them getting a "Safe Driving Award."

You could use one to alert you of an accident within range, if the officer has his radar on. Could also alert you if an officer has someone pulled over ahead, since it's now a law to slow down or move over for an emergency vehicle. You never know what might be lurking around the curve or on the other side of the hill.

smiley face since I'm too dumb to use the emoticons.

Easy. In Ky you turn it on. Nothing illegal about it, and that's the way it should be.

It's not so far fetched to want to know a radar gun is pointed at you. I personally don't care who radars me, but if a person wants to know they are being monitored they should have that right.

Under your scenario, sports cars should be illegal. They are specifically designed to go too fast for the traffic laws. In fact all cars are. Maybe the government should make sure our cars will only run a max speed of 70mph. After all most vehicles will run in excess of 90 MPH and thus must be specifically designed to break the law. Full circle to my point of freedom and responsibility.

It should never be illegal to make yourself aware of your phone being tapped, your person or home being videoed, radar waves being transmitted at you, or any other form of surveillance. As I said before, IMO there are more than enough government rules in place now without making more.
