Thinking of going down to Rough next weekend, never been on the lake. Anyone have any suggestions or general ideas? Is the lake at winter pool? Turned over yet? Appreciate any and all info.

I have never fished the area but I have heard that Walter creek is pretty good right now. I always put in at peter cave but thats during the summer, Don't think you can do it if the waters down but I'm not sure about that, just a guess.

STAY IN THE CHANNEL. I can't stress that enough this time of year. I heard from someone that was down there last weekend & it is low, not winter pool yet. As of then. If you put in at Laurel Branch, which is accessible all year around, DO NOT go to the right unless you are positively sure there is enough water too. If you want to go that way go around the back side of the island.
Walter creek area is a good area, I fish it all year long.
Just be careful & wear you PFD. It can be kinda dangerous this time of the year.
