I haven't been down that way this year, how is the water level, did you run into any troublesome spots?

Just got back from fishin' the Robinson dam area of the South Lickin and slow aint the right word for the fish we were looking for....my buddy caught a few bluegill throwing a night crawler and I got a total of one hit on a worm....never got a hook in him....never threw a running bait of any kind, spinner bait, crank bait etc....they were not interested in my worms ,jig 'n' pigs or even the creek chubs i took with me "just in case"...lol....water was 49 at the dam and 47 up past the RR bridge...
was my first trip to that area and it looks like a great area to catch a few fish when they are co-operatin'...HLL

The water was trickling over the dam in a couple spots across it.....there was 6 to 8 feet mostly up to the RR bridge.we went up beyond the house on the left until we got into water a couple feet deep and never had any problem....forthe most part it was clean except for the leaves...a couple squirrel hunters seemed to be having a pretty good day but saw only one other boat crappie fishing and they said they weren't catching anything either......HLL
thanks for the info, sorry to hear they were slow.
If you don't mind me jawin' your ear off, what did the water look like below the dam ?
The best day I've ever had down that way was in a jon boat below the dam, drove the truck right down there and chucked the boat in. Been thinking of making that run again, but wouldn't even attempt it with the water level being what it has been for the past couple months. I'm sure I would spend more time dragging the boat than fishing lol.
Thanks
To tell you the truth i never paid much attn.....i would just guess there wasn't much movement because the run over the dam was very minor....i'm probably going to make a few more trips there next year......it seems to have a lot of the places i love to flip a jig into....might run across you there sometime....do you catch many largemouths there....always hearing about the smallmouth...dont know a lot about smallmouth fishin as i am normally looking for the lgmouth...
actually i'm the same as you, as I try to concentrate on Largemouth as well.
I've caught several smallies out of there tho, the biggest just being a couple pounds.
I did luck up on about a 5.5-6 lb largemouth a couple years ago down there.
only been there once this year tho, without much luck, just a couple keepers if i recall, and not many short fish either lol, they just weren't doing anything.
I certainly think the bass are there though.
Hope I do see ya down there sometime![]()
