i am thinking about going down to laurel on wed or thurs of next week and i am just curious as to what the water temp is and if the lake is or has turned over yet.....
water temp was 56 this morning at flatwoods boat ramp & from flatwoods up it is turnover water with the cool temps forecast the water temps will change fast in the next few days
Not on course with laurel, but thanks for the info on wisdom dock, launched there today, and no problems. wish the fish would have cooperated.
Of course Everyone knows by now that im going to laurel monday..lol Anyway I have been calling around and getting info about the lake and everything and here is what I have got... Lake Is turning over from flatwoods on up... Grove on down the water looks good. I will be fishing from holly bay on up. Water temps are ranging from 53-55. Holly bay marina said that there ramp is still useable so thats where im putting in. I WILL post a report when I return monday night ryan. I will keep no secrets from ya man so be ready. Hopefully it is a good report and the fnf bite will be starting.
alright fisherman0625 we need a report adn i sure hope its a good un....
Sorry about the Late report guys... got in late and had to be at work early this mourning. Well Wish i could give you guys a good report but Its not. Everyone I had talked to said that from grove on down had NOT turned over yet. So that being said I got to the lake and was on the lake at daylight. I put in a marsh branch. Water color was good and clear and There was a little chop to the water. So from daylight to 12:00 I had 5 pulldowns On fnf and I caught one smallmouth- 16" . By 10:30 the wind was up and howling and well I have a great trolling motor and well it was still a little too much. I fished all upper end didnt go past holly bay. Now for the water temps. Water temp was 54.4 when i put in at marshes branch. Found nothin less and nothing more untill i went up into indian creek. The water went down to 52-53 and has a brownish black color to it. That is where I caught my only smallmouth. When I got off the lake at 3:00 craigs creek looked blackish and out towards the main lake looked blackish. I dont know if the wind was playing tricks on me but I actually think at the time the lake was turning over with me on it. I dont know, dont hold me to that but it just didnt look right to me or seem right. FNF is going to turn on but i would give it atleast 2 more weeks at laurel. They was biting it a little bit before I went on my trip but not alot. NO pulldowns on mainlake points. Everything come from secondary points and cuts or pockets. Smallmouth come from a pocket protected from the wind in indian creek. Hope this helps and maybe someone else fished and done better. Atleast I got a fish on fnf..
BY THE WAY FILL OUT YOUR DAY PASS!!!!!!!! I got a ticket at marshes branch for not filling out the date. I didnt have a pen on me so I couldnt, I guess buying a $3 dollar pass just isnt enough for those people. I was so mad because of that and trying to get the boat on the trailer with all that wind. Bad day for me... The only bright side is I didnt go home without catching a fish! Ohh yea it was a 75 dollar ticket so if you dont have a pen make em fill it out for you where you purchase it. Dont make the same mistake I did.
