I say let the Government take over the car industry. Add those workers to the millions that already work for the Government. I'm sure the politicians can run them better than the unions. We will end up with free cars. I like it.

As for oil, I remember Pelosi saying she was going to WEAN us off of oil. Thats no new drilling anywhere. Matter of fact, thats no oil. BO agrees with this because he has said as much. What do you think happens to investors when our leaders make such statements. You can only go by what they say they are going to do. Does anyone remember why Anwar was set aside in the first place? No it wasn't because of the wonderful tundra. It was set aside by Carter to preserve that area so that we could use it's resources when needed. One political party decided to let the environmentalist take over that issue. I don't know how you can blame a party that wants to drill here and drill now and save money. Wouldn't it be nice to have our own oil while we work on other technology and thumb our nose at OPEC? Sounds like a winner to me. Oh thats right, that thinking lost.

As for education, I say we should go back to the kind of teachers I had in school. Right an assignment on the chalk board and start reading a news paper. Aint unions great!

Sounds great until you realize that it is unlikely that the US would see any of that oil. It will go to the highest bidder, most likely China. Better to keep it in reserve until it is really needed and we can put it to use here. Then why do we drill in the first place. We should allow others supply all our needs, just like our Government will supply all of it's citizens needs? Until someone official says it doesn't do any good to pump the oil that God has blessed us with, I say drill here, drill now and save money. I don't care if it only means we pay just one cent less at the pumps, I say bring it on. We all know why we don't drill as much as we should and it has nothing to do with other countries. It has everything to do with this country and those who think they are saving it. Get the environmentalists out of the way and we will be fine. Let the oil companies do their job. Russia recently found a huge reserve of oil and said they would be up and running in a month. Our politicians say it will take 10 yrs to start up in this country, why is that? It's because of all the hoops the evil oil companies have to jump through because of Government mandates and because of all the legal wranglings brought on by the environmentalist. When was the last time our oil rigs were wiped out by a hurricane? What was the impact on the environment from the mess that those damaged oil rigs created? I say instead of acting like my money is the Governments money, they should start trying their hardest to let me keep more of my money. If its a penny at the pump I say bring it on. This idea of a gas tax holiday as being a gimmick is offensive to me. That is my money and I don't like some high and mighty politician telling me I cant have more of my money because he thinks it's a gimmick. I could care less about punishing evil oil companies. They do the work and provide a product that we need, not to mention providing millions of jobs around the world. It would be nice if we would allow them to provide a few million more jobs right here on our land. I don't believe in confiscating profits from anyone for the purposes of perpetuating Marxism. I don't believe the Government has the right to twist their arm or mine, but I do believe we just elected a president who said he is going to use the heavy hand of government to do just that.

One last thought. I see the side affects of more oil wells in our oceans not as potential environmental disasters, but as additional structure for fish and thus more enjoyable fishing experiences. See, everybody wins.

The gas tax vacation was a gimmick. You might have saved $30 over the summer. Not going very far on that. That tax goes to fix the infrastructure. How do you plan on keeping roads/bridges repaired if you take away several billion dollars?

A look at eastern KY 20-30 years ago and you would see why environmental laws are needed. Creeks all flowing black cause of coal run off.

Yep, the oil companies do give us something we need. I just wonder how much we are getting guaged in the process. For example, a few weeks back I pull up at a gas pump. Sign outside says $1.59/gallon regular. Cool! As I am in line getting ready to pay, guy behind the counter gets a call. Something happened in the mid east, price is going up to $1.89 now. The guy in front of me and I got the $1.59, people coming in after me got the $1.89. Hmmmm, I don't remember seeing a gas truck come and deliver more gas while I was there???? S'plain that one!

$30.00, I'll take it. Tell the Government to send it to my house, they know where I live. I don't make much money so that $30.00 will go a long way. I bet I can spend it better than they can. As far as roads and bridges, let the states handle it. I will have more power over local powers than the high and mighties up in Washington. If I want to help my state through additional taxes, then I should have that choice. I'm not interested in building a bridge in another state just so some Senator can put his name on it. It's amazing how our Government has eliminated voting on so many things. They just take what they want through ear marks and theres nothing you can say about it. We are supposed to trust them with our money. Just like Bill said, the government can spend my money better than I can. As for the environmental side, I am a follower of the original environmentalist who put two people in charge of the entire shootin match. I still say local government is the way to go. Let the big boys keep us safe.

I think everyone knew exactly what BHO was going to do. The idea that he was going to let the other tax plan expire wasn't in doubt. There are many more out there who think this is a good idea, than don't. That's why BHO is pres elect. I kinda think he should start day one on raising taxes, arm twisting businesses, more mandates on business, more bail outs, more and bigger Government. I say bring on the civilian militia he talked about. He said it would be funded at the same rate as our military. Lets go. What's the hold up. If it is money, we'll just print more. No big deal.
