Sounds great until you realize that it is unlikely that the US would see any of that oil. It will go to the highest bidder, most likely China. Better to keep it in reserve until it is really needed and we can put it to use here. I agree with you that we need to really be working on other technologies, though I would not be thumbing my nose at OPEC. Giving them the finger, yes
