I wouldnt give him credit for coming up with that on his own, it is better then bail outs for sure.
However, I wonder out of the 2.5million proposed construction jobs, how many of the workers will be legal tax paying citizens?

From Newsmax.com:
"President-elect Barack Obama promoted an economic plan Saturday he said would create 2.5 million jobs by rebuilding roads and bridges and modernizing schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars.
"These aren't just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis. These are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long," Obama said in the weekly Democratic radio address."
This makes a heck of a lot more sense than throwing money at banks, auto companies, insurance gaints, etc. If he is going to hire all Clinton people, he may as well go back to another Democrant Prsident for sound ideas and create public works projects like they did during the Depression.

I didn't vote for Obama...I voted for McCain. I'm definitely not gonna be quick to show gratitude towards Obama for anything...but I'll tell ya'll what...I hope to heck he does a good job because this country sure as heck needs for him too!
If I had one wish for something I'd like to see Obama do while in office, it would be that he find a way to trim the fat in the amount of government employee's we have. Heck that would save plenty in itself right there. It's probably asking to much though...The U.S .Government beast is a hard to thing to get your hands around.
Hey brother please don't take offense but I laughed out loud when I read that statement! I know what you mean but I think we are both wishing for a miracle on that one.If I had one wish for something I'd like to see Obama do while in office, it would be that he find a way to trim the fat in the amount of government employee's we have. The bailouts are needed to prevent further deterioration of the economic situation. If the Feds didn't bail out citicorp there would be more jobs that need to be created. Creating jobs is a good idea but is gonna hit the taxpayer in the wallet. I'm just waiting to see how bad. From Newsmax.com:

Tom, and I suppose you think that over four trillion dollars of bailouts is not going to hit the tax payer in our pockets? You have got to be kidding.
That four trillion is just what is being done now, no telling how much more they will want next year. These bails outs are just like paying ransom to kidnappers and extorsionists (people, gangs or nations) ONCE YOU START IT NEVER STOPS!!

DJD - Heck no I don't take offense. Please notice how I phrased it: "If I had one wish", LOL...

Just a thought....Grumpy mentioned something about four trillion dollars in bailout money...man that's a lot of zero's...I wonder how much interest four trillion dollars would earn in a years time if the government decided to put it in a savings account?
What I think we need to do is the government take over the rail road tracks just like they do the roads and build a new net work of rails like the Europeans with three rails per right away two for freight and one for passenger train. We would need to cross America with a rail system that would have about three rails running east and west and maybe four or five running north and south. It would be nice if you could get on a train with your car and go about any where plus we could save tons of fuel if we could ship freight efficiently by rail. This would be a long works project but it would pay dividends for ever just like the barge transportation has done.
?? Not following ya man. How does this relate to the topic? Please help me out.I disagree that religious history should serve as entertainment in fiction. I am all for freedom of speech, but only when what is being put forth by the author introduces new ideas, challenges old ones, or conveys something of purpose. All this book seems guild wars gold to do is turn events from the now-hyped Islamic history into a source of entertainment.![]()
I used to work in construction before my health problems started. I was a foreman of a 20 man team that worked all over Louisiana, and east Texas. We were an asbestos abatement team This was some of the hardest most dangerous jobs around. The pay scale reflected that. While at the time down there 10 bucks an hour with all the over time you wanted meant most of my guys took home no less than 600 a week while some jobs were prevailing wage we would clean up. Here is my point the money that was being paid in the little Parrish we lived 5$ was ok and $10 was outstanding. With that being said I would do interviews on monday afternoons. I would see as many as 30 people looking for a job, every week. After all of the prerequirments done I could have them on line and working by the middle of the week, by Friday I would watch all of these I need the job no matter what, guys and gals say man this just to much work out here in this heat I rather work at Micky Ds than this. I saw this over and over young workers wanting a pay check but not a strain. Then when we worked for Brown and Root we would have the Mexicans doing every low down and unwanted jobs on site, These guys worked their butts off and for 5 to 10 dollars an hour less than the guys doing alot easier work. Brown and Root would do the payroll taxes on every worker no matter what, where the TAX money went you would have to call **** Chaney, he was still in the Game then. But it boils down to this if a job has to get done you hire the man that will work on that job. I used to believe the old Wet backs are stealing our jobs, crap, but the trueth is they just work the jobs no one else will. Finding a good answer is going to be a challenge.
How often should we bail out folks like Citicorp & ect.? Who owns Citicorp & ect.? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer! If theses companies can't make enough money to stay afloat with the interest rates that they charge and the money and perks that they pay the CEO's shame on them. What percentage of taxes do they pay? I wonder what stock holdings that our political leaders have? And why do we need a bank on every corner? Let these companies do some cutting back!
I feel for the folks that are employed by these people.
