A Horse Skull,
Redneckshadrap and I were fishing Stoner Creek on Halloween Day a couple years back and I caught a horse skull on a tube bait. We were both shocked when that hunk of bone came to the surface.
One time when I was at band camp.... ahh never mind...
1) I was fishing at a small farm pond one fall and hooked into a fish that battled for a while and when I finally pulled up on the bank, it was a fish I had never seen before. I was sold that it was a Japanese Snakehead for years until I joined this forum and found out that it must have been a large bowfin. How it got into this small farm pond is beyond me?
2) Caught a 7.5lb, 27" brown trout out of a little creek called trammel creek in Allen county. That was a shocker!!!
3) Caught a 40+lb snapper on a 71/2" culprit worm. That was fun! Needless to say, I let him keep the worm!
4) Caught a gigantic fresh water oyster at a local lake, my hook was stuck right inbetween it's two shells, weird?
5) Caught myself straight through my ear on a windy day, fly fishing on the Green River Wyoming with a large Cicada fly. That hurt.
My oldest son caught a 2 foot long 2X4 out of Taylorsville Lake...We just knew he had hooked a new state record the way it was fighting going side to side and taking out the drag.......He was excited for sure with the battle......
2 years ago, I was catfishing north of the gambeling boat. A rod started peeling off line. Grabbed it and set the hook. Faught it back to the boat. Half way back it surfaced. It was a red flannel shirt full of silt and water. It looked like a torso of a person until we got it right next to the boat. 10 minuted before, we were talking bout hooking a body and pulling it in. We still laugh about it. I'm telling y'all, it looked like a body in the shirt!!!!!
Mine I relayed here:

After the dead fish did you learn about fertilizer or fillets?![]()
Just what do you mean by odd? Do clams, pelicans, sea gulls, mergansers, eels, turtles and burbot count? Not to mention in animate objects, sometimes I think any fish is odd!
I once hooked a pelican while mackerel fishing in Fla, and those darn hedge apple looking things, they look like a human head if they have moss on them, hung one several years agos and as it was comimg up, the water was very clear, it looked like a head and upper body as it also had a tree limb attached, scared me to death. Those darn bowfins are strange critters, caught a snapping turtle on a skitter pop once at Barren, and the strangest thing of all was actully catching a keeper basss at Taylorsville lake,![]()
I did catch a Bullfrogs on a grape man worm while floating over lilly pads. It was a sight to see. I had a good laugh.

Here's another "fish story" thread from 2006. Some real good ones, too!
