Prayer Request

I got the phone call I had been dreading at 1:15 am this morning telling me my mother had sercum to the cancer that has been eating her alive for the past two years. I ask , if you have the time, you to please say a little prayer for my family and children. My wife and I have decided to tell the kids tonight, after they get home from school, and I am dreading what I am going to say and the questions I will get from them about it. I know there are many others on here going through trials and tribulations of their own, but if you can find the time and feel so move to, I would appreicate it. Take care and God Bless.

Hi, Rob:

A few months ago, I was where you are now except my Mom died suddenly. There is never a way to be prepared for a death, no matter what. Children are resilient and, most of the time, they will grasp the concept of death unless they are very young. My family explained it to the elementary school children that Mom's spirit slipped away and went to Heaven but she left her body behind so we could visit her at the cemetery. Each was given a pen, some paper, a string, and a helium filled balloon. We asked them to write Granny a note and they could tell her whatever they wanted to say. We would tie their message to the balloon, all go outside and, together, let our balloons go. One of the children wrote, "Dear Jesus: I'm sending my Granny's letter for You to deliver 'cause I know she's living at your house now. Granny I will visit your grave every day at the cemetery. You forgot to take your cell phone so I can't call you. I love you, Brandy."

IMO if the children are old enough to ask the questions, they deserve a truthful answer. It helps them to understand what really happened, and they will talk to their friends about it at school.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I will be praying for all at this most difficult time.

I lost my father 5 days ago. he was my teacher and fishing partner, I also have 3 little girls that are 6 and 3 and 6 months old, the questions are tuff to awnser but with God you will get through.
