Looks like the little woman may let me treat myself this holiday season with one of the Humminbird 997's with side imaging. Just wondering if you guys have any experience with them at all.
Thanks in Advance.

One of the guys I fish with frequently got one a few months ago. They are worth every cent. He did pay the extra money to have all of the maps pre-loaded, however, I think the New Navionics chip is better, and he ended up buying that as well. I wouldn't suggest getting all of the pre-loaded maps. You will love it!
Buy it, kiss her, kiss her again, install it (another kiss won't hurt) Then be prepared to stare at a locator screen for hours going "WOW". Do not get discouraged if you have problems with higher speed depth reading it is an easy fix, PM Me if you have this problem. and yes get the newest maps pre-loaded (I got the "Navionics" pre-loaded)
I sure wish you guys would stop talking about the SI units. You're going to make me spend a bunch of money I don't have. I would love to have one.
WOOT!! Thanks guys......im getting all tingly with anticipation. LOL![]()
Yahoo groups has a web page dedicated to the SI lots of good info, pics and forums. You will have to do some searching for it. I would post the link but don't have it saved on this computer.

Sorry for not asking this earlier, did any of u guys (or your friends) have any major problems mounting the transducer ? I've never installed a new Sonar device, so I am just a little worried about the whole thing. I have an older model humminbird depth finder on my boat now, I was planning on just using the same place for the new transducer, u guys think this would suffice ?
Thanks
James
Call humminbird, give them your boat model and they will email you tranducer mounting locations. I did't want to use the jack-plate mounting so I ultimately had to get a shoot thru transducer for high speed depth readings.
I will do that, thanks offdtop.![]()
I too am ready to take the plunge. My only question is the pre-installed maps (BPS price is about $200) What do you get with the pre-installed maps??
