Livewell Pumps in a Ranger

Has anyone here ever replaced a livewell pump in a 520DVX Ranger, if so is it pretty hard to do, could someone with limited mechanical skills like myself do it, or would it be better to take to a dealer, and let them do it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I dont know if it,s like my 488vs. It.s hard to reach but you can do it by laying on your stomick. All you need is a screwdriver. Have fun?

Are they the mayfair (Yellow colored)? if they are you don't even need a screwdriver there is a lever on the side you pull out slightly and push down then the cartridge comes right out - you twist it the direction indicated on the black lid and you will only need to cut the two wires (brown and black) and use an electrical connector to attach new wires.

Buy yourself a can of "LIQUID" electrical tape! coat your connectors! it's cheap.

If you don't have the mayfair replace your old ones with them they are awesome, I had both areator pumps go out and I used one of my two bilge pumps cartridges and put it in place of one of the bad ones and saved my sack of fish!!! I did it in 10 minutes or less while on the water!

dont try adn take the livewell pumps loose while u are still in teh water..... i had one die on me while i was in texas and i took it off while i was out on the lake i was checking the impellers for dirt... water seems to come in pretty quick........ just a thought....

LOL yeah you have too be quick as I found out... but if you carry a spare for about 20 to 30 bucks you can use it to stop up the hole while you clean it. Best bet is to keep an old one because, I found, right after I changed one the other soon followed because the older they get the more of an amp drag they are it is best to change both (if you have 2) at the same time and keep the good one as a spare. If you use the quick paddle type connectors it makes changing a BREEZE!!!
