This past Monday, we stopped and fished just a bit at the dam. When we came up, the last of the three horns went off advising everyone that they were getting ready to let some water out. There were two guys in a jonboat no more than 15-yards from the dam, far left side (west, turbine side). I heard a yell, and when I turned into the direction of the yell, the boat way riding a 4-foot high wave. The front of the boat was facing away from the dam and the guy in the front was hanging on to the sides for dear life. If that boat got hit with that wave broadside, they surely would have been in the water and their boat flipped. As it was, they were very lucky and dry. Don't mess with the horns. Get out of there or pay the consequences.
By the way, two other guys fishing from the bank stood there and watched the wave continue down the bank until it soaked both of their feet. They seemed surprised, ever though the watched the wave continue toward them from quite a distance. Just makes you shake your head.
