I prepared our Christmas dinner last Sunday so we could share something the slightly resembled the holidays.
I was really sad last night but tried to sniff it up and be a brave girl; he was leaving early this morning. Try and I might I couldn't even fake a smile because my heart was breaking......until.... he gave me my Christmas gift. A little square, red gift with a silver ribbon tied around it. Carefully I opened it and inside was every woman's dream gift, a beautiful diamond ring sparkling like stars on a clear summer night. Perfect! I gave him a big hug and covered his face with kisses and.....I'm not telling what else I did.
He is puzzled by something that happened while in the jewelry store. He had made the selection, the cashier went to the cash register to ring up his purchase and a strange man walked up and interrupted her. He placed something in her hand, pointed at my husband and said, "apply this to his purchase," and with those 5 words he turned and walked away. The cashier said, "That man just gave me $50 to apply to your bill." Sweetie Pie said, "Who was that guy?" She said, "I don't know, I thought you knew him." He told her that he had never seen him before. He didn't even get to say, "thanks" to that generous stranger. Was it another angel in disguise?
We once had a stranger come to our rescue and disappeared so fast that not one of the eight people who were present saw the man arrive or leave; they only saw him talking to me. He spoke only to me, asked if he could help and I told him our story (yes, I was crying). He borrowed a man's cell phone and made a call. He said, "Wait here for 15 minutes and someone will be here to help you." Without a word he handed the phone back to the person he borrowed it from and before I could get his name and thank him, he was gone. Nobody knew him and nobody knew which direction he came and left from. In exactly 15 minutes our help arrived. I still wonder who that kind person was; could it have been the same person whom I like to think of as an angel in disguise.
Merry Christmas my Friends!
