The wind will play havoc with the fly, that is for sure. Some guys love fishing wind blown points with crankbaits on a day like this which is one pattern but those same wind blown points are no good for the fly. Too much wave action gives the jig too much action and I just flat out don't catch any fish on the fly when the waves are too much. For me, I ALWAYS look at the wind the night before and the morning of on the weather report and adjust from there. I will be in the protected pockets throwing the fly and if you can find these pockets that are protected on the backside of the wind there will be an eddy coming around the point that is the money spot. Fish these areas thoroughly with the fly and hang on. I think the fish position them on the backside just waiting for a shad to blow around the corner to munch on. I throw up on the point into the wind and let the natural eddy current drift my bait back down the point around the side. It works. Glad to see someone got out today. Fri and Sat for me at Dale in hopes of some clear water but with 3.5 inches of rain in celina today, my guess is the lake will be stained and rising, but it will not be for lack of effort if I don't catch any.
