Update on CL?

The water is clear, the fish had l;ock jaw for me. the wind didn't help with the back cast on the FNF, and it was constantly using the trolling motor to keep position. But it was a nice day------ to do some yard work.

Thanks for the input. 15 lb. sounds like the way to go for the jumps. Hard to get a lengthy cast out of 15 lb. I would imagine, unless you are tossing something really heavy. I think the heaviest line I've used bass fishing was 12 and it was difficult. But if it means hooking a striper and keeping it on, I'm all for it. I would imagine you are using 15 lb. flurocarbon right? Thanks again!

Lake Cumberland... Fished from sun up to sun down 12/29/08 Great Day weather was nice fishing was terrible. Put in at state dock. Found most bait fish way back in otter and beaver creek it seemed the further we went back the more we found. Saw large marks around some large islands back in creeks. Didn't mark anything on main lake. Trolled all day with artifical bait. No takers. There was plenty of bait and birds but no FISH! But that is how it goes. The sky was clear and the wind was blowing hard and brrrrrr it was cold, it think a little cloud cover would have helped. We use 20 lb mono on all heavy down rods. 15-17 when in the jumps, it really depends on how heavy of lure you have. If you throw lighter top water I would opt for 15 lb for a better cast, but I have had stripers in the river take a lure and snap 15 while in the jumps. This is my first post/reply so I hope it will help you out.

A word of advice, i have not had the same results using any flouro line with a syrface bait. It sinks, it does not help a sammy or a spook. 20/6 braid will cast a mile, and it does not cause any or fewer problems with casting, and the hook set are really something.
