Deep Crank Bait Rod ?

New to fishing bait casters. I've got a 6'6" Med MF crucial rod with a curado 101 that's great for smaller cranks. I'm want one for fishing deeper cranks of 10+'. What do you recommend? I'm thinking a 7' MH MF, but see some MH cranking rods with fast action or moderate. Do you need MH for deep cranks or is Med better for not pulling the hooks out? I'm kinda of thinking that a MH would be easier on the wrist for deep cranks, but want the best power for hookups. Any suggestions are appreciated. What would be your choice in terms of brand and model?

A Shimano Crucial 7'11" medium or medium heavy should do the trick. Great DD22 rod!

I would recomend getting the rod shimano designed for deep cranking. Its a crucial rod but made with a different type of graphite, its like a composite. I have one and it works great.

I highly recommend a 7 foot Medium rod. A fiberglass rod is great for deep cranking. It really allows you to feel brush and rock deep. The basspro cranking stick is only $39 right now. It is a graphite/glass blend. For the money it is a GREAT rod. I have 4 and have no complaints. I did not lose a fish last year on this rod fishing deep.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I need to head to Sportsmans Warehouse and look at both a glass and graphite cranking rod and pick the one that feels best.

I guess my answer would depend on how much you throw the DD22.

Many M or MH rods will throw the 12ft and 14ft crank just fine but when you hit the DD22 they are overworked.

I use a Loomis CBR 847 for DD22's and 3/4oz lipless cranks and love it. Pretty optimal for both.

Below a DD22, I would reach for my Crucial 7MH Crankbait rod or an Airrius Co-Matrix 7M. For really light crankbaits, I use the Crucial Dropshot rod 6'6M.

I found it impossible for my 12ft crankbait rods to handle the DD22 for long periods.

You want something pretty long so you can get the extra distance. It takes a while for deep cranks to get down so the extra distance is a necessity. You also want a soft tip to give the fish that extra second to inhale the bait. I build rods so I use one that I built on a Rogue blank. 7'6" MH Mod-fast.
